WEED CONTROL BY SOLARIZATION AND MULCHING IN COWPEA DEVELOPMENT 196
Maia Júnior, Sebastião de Oliveira; Andrade, Jailma Ribeiro de; Reis, Lígia Sampaio; Santos, Claudiana Moura dos; Silva, Lennon Kledson dos Santos; Martins, Gleica Maria Correia.
Weeds are a serious threat to agriculture because they compete with crops, thereby interfering in production. As such, this study aimed to assess weed control using soil solarization and mulching on the growth and yield of cowpea. A completely randomized design was used, with eight treatments and four repetitions. The treatments consisted of a combination of two management practices, namely soil solarization (with and without) and three mulches (castor bean, rattlepod and spontaneous vegetation), as well as no mulching. Non-solarized soil and without mulch increased the number and dry weight of weeds, while the main stem length of the cowpea plants decreased. Mulching increased the pod length and number of seeds per pod regardless of solarization, as well...

Wenneck, Gustavo Soares; Saath, Reni; Santi, Danilo Cesar; Araújo, Larissa Leite de; Santos, Josélia Portilho dos; Oliveira, Giovanna Gabriela Ferreira de.
The commercial exploitation of pumpkin seeds, at the flour form toasted or to the production of oil, requires knowledge about the activity of water and equilibrium moistures. This study aimed to determine the equilibrium isotherms to the pumpkin seeds and describe the dynamics of the process upon its physicochemical quality. With the static method, the equilibrium isotherms were determined for different temperatures and activities of water (0.110 to 0.885 dry basis), provided conditions by the conditioner chamber of atmosphere, with the weighing of the samples until the constant mass. The hygroscopic balance of the seeds was directly proportional to the activity of water and decreased with increasing temperature, for the same value of water activity. The...

APPLICATION OF DIFFERENT SOURCES AND DOSES OF BORON IN THE CORN CROP 196
Silva, Angela Oliveira; Buso, Wilian Henrique Diniz.
One of the main problems faced in corn cultivation, especially in Cerrado regions, is the deficiency of micronutrients. Among the micronutrients essential for the development of plants, boron (B) stands out for participating in a series of physiological processes. Based on this, the present work aimed to evaluate the performance of corn under fertilization with different sources and doses of boron. The randomized block design in a 4x3 factorial scheme was used. Four boron doses (0, 1, 2, and 3 kg ha-1) and three nutrient sources (boric acid, borax, and ulexite), applied in topdressing, were evaluated. Plant height (cm), stem diameter (mm), first ear insertion height (m), ear length (cm), ear diameter (mm), number of rows per ear, number of grains per row,...

ASYMMETRIC WETTED SECTOR ANGLE IN WATER DISTRIBUTION OF TRAVELING GUN IRRIGATION SYSTEMS REA
Prado,Giuliani do; Colombo,Alberto.
ABSTRACT This work aimed to simulate the water distribution of traveler gun irrigation, working with asymmetrical wetted angles and in windy conditions. In the simulations of a sprinkler with uniform radial profile, the following were considered: i) wetted angles between 180 and 330°; ii) wetted angle asymmetries from 0 to 90°; iii) wind speeds from 0 to 4.5 m s-1; and iv) wind direction of 0, 45, and 90°. Christiansen uniformity coefficients (CU) were calculated for strip widths from 30 to 100% of the sprinkler wetted diameter (WD). Regardless of the wetted angle adjustment, irrigations under wind speeds of 4.5 m s-1 should be avoided and strip spacings of less than 50% WD provide high CU for wind speeds up to 3.0 m s-1. For any wind conditions,...

PATH ERRORS IN SUGARCANE TRANSSHIPMENT TRAILERS REA
Passalaqua,Bruna P.; Molin,José P..
ABSTRACT The need for accuracy in sugarcane machine traffic has boosted the adoption of automatic steering systems. These have been used in tractors pulling transhipment trailers. Such sets are long and articulated, which hinders their performance and benefits due to alignments in curved and laterally sloped paths. In this sense, this study aimed to quantify shifts in direction to which tractors and transshipment trailers are subjected while traveling straight and curved paths on different terrain slopes. We evaluated an internal transport system composed of one tractor and two three-axle transshipment trailers, equipped with GNSS receivers and RTK correction system, for their respective positioning. Pass-to-pass errors were evaluated by differences in...
