La presente investigación evaluó los efectos de la interacción entre el bicarbonato de potasio (KHCO3), el fungicida iprodione y el hongo Trichoderma viride, para controlar el crecimiento y desarrollo de Sclerotinia sclerotiorum. Para ello, este trabajo fue dividido en tres capítulos experimentales. El primer capítulo evaluó el potencial antagónico de cuatro hongos filamentosos (Trichoderma viride, Phanerochaete chrysosporium, Trametes sp. y Trametes versicolor) contra Sclerotinia sclerotiorum, mediante confrontamientos in vitro y producción de enzimas como amilasas, lipasas, pectinasas, proteasas y celulasas. El objetivo fue evaluar la composición química y calidad de la carne de bovinos en diferentes sistemas de alimentación del estado de Puebla, México. Se realizó un muestreo en cuatro regiones: Trópico Este y Trópico Oeste donde la alimentación es en pastoreo más alimento concentrado y en el Centro y Mixteca, donde el sistema es estabulado con alimento concentrado. Para determinar el efecto de la selección recurrente para alto contenido de aceite se evaluaron tres sintéticos de maíz de grano amarillo en tres localidades del estado de Chiapas en el ciclo de temporal Primavera-Verano 2008; estos sintéticos provienen de tres ciclos de selección producto de la recombinación de las mejores 50 familias de medios hermanos (FMH). Breeding of high lipid producing strain of Geotrichum robustum by ion beam implantation Electron. J. Biotechnol.

To obtain an industrial strain with high lipid yield, the wild strain G0 of Geotrichum robustum was mutated by means of nitrogen ions implantation. Mutagenic effects of strain G0 by low energy N+ ion implantation were studied. The experimental results indicated that the survival rate curve took a ?saddle? shape, and the positive mutation rate was increased to 22.00% at the dose of nitrogen ions 2.0 x 10(15) ions/cm² when the survival rate was 28.60%. By repeated screening, a high lipid producing strain G9 was obtained. The biomass, lipid content and lipid yield of the mutant can reach 40.25 g/L, 71.14% and 28.63 g/L after cultured in a 5L fermenter for 8 days, increasing by 52.81%, 68.82% and 157.93% to those of wild strain, respectively. Background To study the relationship between intracellular anabolism and astaxanthin production, the influence of intracellular protein and fatty acids on astaxanthin production by four mutant Phaffia rhodozyma strains and their variations was investigated in this research. Samples of green colonial unicellular microalga Botryococcus braunii were collected from Bear Shola Falls at Kodaikanal (latitude 10.31 N and longitude 77.32 E), Tamil Nadu, India. Specimens were isolated, cultured and examined for its hydrocarbon content, morphological features and DNA structural resemblance with the known strain to confirm its identity. Inter simple sequence repeats (ISSR) finger printing revealed strong genetic similarity among the authentic strain (B. braunii N-836) and the Indian isolated strain (B. braunii CFTRI- Bb1) from Kodaikanal. Resumo: Um dos principais desafios da coleta e extração de óleo de frutos de dendê (palma de óleo) é a manutenção da qualidade do óleo, de forma a evitar a liberação de ácidos graxos, que mudam as propriedades do óleo e, consequentemente, reduzem seu valor comercial. A liberação desses ácidos é atribuída à ação de lipases. Entretanto, não há um consenso quanto à fonte das enzimas que hidrolisam excessivamente o óleo, se ela é endógena (produzida pelo próprio fruto de dendê) ou exógena (produzida por um determinado microrganismo que colonizou o fruto de dendê). The assessment and management of fish populations is based on the use of management units called fish stocks. The shape of otoliths, calcified structures of the fish's inner ear, can be used to discriminate these stocks. First, this thesis focuses on the study of the spatio-temporal variability of the otolith’s shape for three fish species with different ecological characteristics (size, swimming speed, behaviour in the water column, etc.) and biogeographical environments. The results showed that there is a decreasing structural gradient across stock sizes from large pelagic species to more localised demersal species. Microparticulate diets as first food for gilthead sea bream larva (Sparus aurata): study of fatty acid incorporation ArchiMer

Recent advances have led to the development of inert diets for first-feeding marine fish larvae. The purpose of the present study was to evaluate fatty acid (FA) incorporation into larva using practical-type and semipurified diets as first food for larvae. Experimental microparticulate diets were fed to gilthead sea bream larvae, right from the mouth opening to day 21 post hatching. Five basal diets were compared, using fish meat or casein as main protein sources, and fish protein concentrate or casein hydrolysates and algae powder (Schizochytrium). While focus in oil-producing microalgae is normally on nutrient deficiency, we addressed the seasonal variations of lipid content and composition in large-scale cultivation. Lipid content, fatty acid profiles and mono- di- and triglycerides (MAGs, DAGs, and TAGs) were analyzed during May 2007-May 2009 in Nannochloropsis oculata grown outdoors in closed vertical flat panels photobioreactors. Total lipids (TL) ranged from 11% of dry weight (DW) in winter to 30% of DW in autumn. 50% of the variation in TL could be explained by light and temperature. Seasonal variation of physical, chemical and sensory characteristics of sea bream (Sparus aurata) reared under intensive conditions in Southern Europe ArchiMer

This study describes the variability of important quality traits in gilthead sea bream produced under intensive conditions in Southern Europe and purchased in a French market (Nantes). Chemical, sensory and histological characteristics were performed on 18 samples delivered over a year. All fish presented far lower dioxin and DL-PCBs or heavy metals concentrations than the maximum limit level set by EC Regulation, being totally safe for human consumption. Fat content and nutritional values reflected by n-3 and n-6 polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFA) levels were parameters with high variability according to the season or the fish farm. A brief review of nutritional studies for Penaeus monodon ArchiMer

In order to develop effective formulated for Penaeus monodon , sufficient information is needed on its nutritional requirements. Unfortunately, research on this area has been very limited. This paper outlines the results of such research. Since data on the nutritional requirements of P. japonicus are relatively well established, some of these data are also reviewed in this paper and are used as a basis for assessing the nutritional requirements of P. monodon . Protein, lipid, carbohydrate, mineral and vitamin requirements are evaluated from the parameters of growth survival and feed efficiency. Studies on the effects of enzymes and the development of microparticulate diet for larvae are also summarized.

Lipid requirements of the scallop Pecten maximus (L.) during larval and post-larval development in relation to addition of Rhodomonas sauna in diet ArchiMer

The main objective of this study was to evaluate the effect of the addition of Rhodomonas salina in the diet of Pecten maximus on growth, survival and metamorphosis success in relation to biochemical content. Food quality is an essential factor in the success of larval, post-larval and juvenile development. A diet rich in polyunsaturated fatty acids present an advantage for growth, survival and metamorphosis success. Larvae and post-larvae fed with the diet containing R. sauna showed a higher accumulation of arachidonic acid (20:4n-6) and generally a lower concentration of docosahexaenoic acid (22:6n-3).
