| The First ODINCARSA Planning Workshop for the Caribbean Islands was held in Christ Church, Barbados between 15 and 18 December 2003, co-sponsored by the Coastal Zone Management Unit of Barbados. The workshop was attended by participants from eight countries in the Caribbean. The meeting reviewed the ocean data and information management capacity available in this region, identified needs and capacity building requirements, and prepared a comprehensive work plan and timetable to develop a regional cooperative network for the management of oceanographic data and marine information on the basis of the experience of the ODINCARSA project in South America. |

| Datos de madurez sexual de la pinchagua (Ophisthonema spp.) y varios parámetros oceanográficos fueron comparados y analizados en forma de series de tiempo. Un análisis de Funciones Ortogonales Empíricas (EOF) mostro una fuerte relación con el índice de la Oscilación Decadal del Pacífico (PDO); en contraste no mostró nivel de asociación entre las variables oceanográficas locales y los estadios de madurez sexual de la pinchagua, ya que la variabilidad obtenida no fue común a todas las series. | The third meeting of the Joint Steering Group for the IODE Ocean Data Portal (ODP) and the JCOMM Pilot Project for WIGOS was held at the Project Office of the IOC International Oceanographic Data and Information Exchange (IODE) in Ostend, Belgium from 1 to 3 November 2010. The meeting reviewed the status of the WIGOS, including the WIGOS Concept of Operations (CONOPS), the WIGOS test of concept Development and Implementation Plan (WDIP), the WIGOS Development and Implementation Strategy (WDIS), and the status of the WIGOS Demonstration Projects. | Se realizó el análisis de plancton en tres estaciones fijas ubicadas en el perfil de la costa ecuatoriana: Esmeraldas, Punta Galera y Puerto López entre abril y diciembre de 2008. Las muestras fueron obtenidas mensualmente, identificándose un total de 99 especies fitoplanctónicas y 122 zooplanctónicas. El análisis cualitativo y cuantitativo de la variación mensual del plancton fue comparado entre los años 2006, 2007 y 2008, determinándose que el año 2008 fue el de mayor productividad y que Esmeraldas registró la mayor productividad fitoplanctónica y la menor densidad zooplanctónica; tendencia contraria a Punta Galera y Puerto López, estaciones donde se registraron densidades fitoplanctónicas menores y altas concentraciones de zooplancton debido a la... |
