En México un gran porcentaje de la comercialización de frutas y hortalizas se realiza en fresco. Aunque por un lado, es el tipo de producto preferido por muchos consumidores, por otro, existen excedentes que saturan el mercado, bajan los precios alarmantemente y se incrementan las perdidas. No existe la capacidad instalada en infraestructura para conservar estos productos, aún en fresco. Por lo que este trabajo propone el desarrollo de un deshidratador para productos vegetales, que permitirá alargar su vida de anaquel y transformarlo en otro producto de consumo. Las rizobacterias promotoras de crecimiento vegetal (RPCV) estimulan el crecimiento y rendimiento de algunos cultivos a través de mecanismos como: síntesis de fitohormonas, fijación de nitrógeno, solubilización de fosfatos, producción de sideróforos y control de fitopatógenos. El objetivo central de este trabajo fue evaluar la respuesta de pepino (Cucumis sativus L.) a la inoculación con RPCV. Para cumplir con este objetivo se realizaron cinco experimentos. Se realizaron tres experimentos; dos fueron conducidos de noviembre de 2008 a abril de 2009 y uno más de agosto de 2009 a febrero de 2010 con la finalidad de generar información en el manejo del cultivo de jitomate (Solanum lycopersicum L.), bajo condiciones protegidas e hidroponía para el estado de Tabasco. High seed quality is essential for optimum stand establishment in lettuce. As a result, it is necessary to have seed vigour tests that permit rapid, objective and accurate evaluation of seed quality. This study evaluated physical and physiological seed quality components of four seed lots of six lettuce varieties obtained from a commercial company. Seeds were evaluated for seedling emergence under greenhouse conditions, standard germination, seed physical aspects, the Saturated Salt Accelerated Aging (SSAA) test and the Seed Vigour Imaging System (SVIS). ABSTRACT This study aimed to analyze the economic feasibility of different irrigation systems in broccoli cropping, in Dourados - MS, Brazil. Initially, irrigation was performed using different systems (surface drip, subsurface drip, micro sprinkler, Santeno® and conventional sprinkler). Both yield of commercial inflorescence (CIY) and applied water depth (AWD) were determined during trial. Economic feasibility was analyzed through estimates of acquisition cost (AC), total annual cost (TAC), gross revenue (GR), net revenue (NR), benefit-cost rate (BCR), return rate (RR) and return time (RT). There are many gaps for the assessment of seed vigor in vegetable crops, among these the parsley. In this context, the accelerated aging test is recognized as one of the most widely used to evaluate seed physiological potential of various crop species, being able to provide information with a high degree of consistency. Thus, the objective of the present study was to evaluate the methodology of accelerated aging test to check parsley seed vigor, as well as verify the possibility of using NaCl solutions as an alternative to control seed water uptake during the aging period without reducing test sensitivity. Reaction of vegetables and aromatic plants to Meloidogyne javanica and M. incognita Horticultura Brasileira

For this research we used 15 day-old seedlings which were transplanted to 2 L pots and inoculated with 4,000 nematode eggs plus juveniles (J2). After 60 days, the root systems were removed and the number of galls and eggs evaluated and used to calculate the nematode reproduction factor (RF). The tomato cv. Santa Cruz was used as a susceptible control. The experimental design was completely randomized, with six replications. Averages were compared using the Tukey or Scott-Knott test at 5%. The research on plant genetic resources is essential for the conservation of genetic diversity and accessions' divergence studies, as a basis for plant breeding. Aiming to know the state of art in this subject, a historical survey was carried out in Revista de Olericultura and in Horticultura Brasileira, from 1961 to 2006, searching for papers dealing with vegetable crops genetic resources. A cenoura (Daucus carota L.) está entre as hortaliças de raízes de maior valor econômico, sendo considerada a quarta mais consumida no Brasil e a quinta mais cultivada. Rica em vitamina A, cujo consumo, em todo o mundo, é deficitário, a cenoura apresenta papel relevante na prevenção de cegueira e no crescimento saudável do ser humano. No Submédio do Vale do São Francisco, o cultivo pode ser realizado durante todo o ano. No entanto, as melhores produtividades são alcançadas nos períodos de temperaturas mais amenas, que ocorrem entre os meses de abril a setembro.
