| A gaivota Larus dominicanus (Lichtenstein, 1823) é uma das aves marinhas costeiras mais comuns do litoral brasileiro, sendo capaz de utilizar vários hábitats e explorar diferentes fontes alimentares. O estuário do Saco da Fazenda é uma importante área de forrageamento e descanso para a espécie. O objetivo deste trabalho foi o de avaliar a estrutura populacional de L. dominicanus no estuário. Durante o período de fevereiro/2004 a janeiro/2005, as gaivotas foram monitoradas mensalmente, com intervalos de duas horas entre os censos, das 6 h às 20 h. As oscilações observadas na população ao longo do ano foram significativas, sendo as maiores contagens registradas em março (181,6 ± 35,1) e as menores em outubro (21,0 ± 4,9). | The estuary is an important feeding and resting site for mixed flocks of coastal seabirds, limnological inhabitants and also edge inhabitants. Once in a month, three census were done on the bird fauna with two hours intervals within observations, during the period from January/96 to December/98. The results showed the presence of 45 species, where 45,7% were regularly observed, while 17,9 occurred seasonally and 36,4% were occasional in the census. The highest abundance occurred during the winter and spring months, and the lowest during the summer and autumn. The medium annual diversity index varied between 1,68 ± 0,36 and 1,82 ± 0,34. The highest similarity of fauna was observed between the years 1997 and 1998. |

| Portunus spinimanus Latreille, 1819 is one abundant Portunidae speeies whieh are eaught by sea-bob-shrimps artisanal fishery in Armaçãodo Itapoeoroy,Penha, Santa Catarina, Brazil. Aiming to analyze its population strueture, a total of 995 males and 1925 fernaleswere eollected by means of overtrawl frorn January to Decernber 1995, between the depthsof 610 10meters,in lhe periodsof morning,afternoonand evening. The width variation of lhe carapaee ranged írom 3.0 to 14.0 em in the males and 3.0 to 11.0emin females. | The C. danae females were collected monthly, within the period of April/91 to March/92. The monthly average variation of the condition factor (Ø1), is associated, among other causes, to both the weight of the gonads (Ø3) and the stomach (Ø2). The difference between Ø1 and Ø3 (ΔØ) estimates the "gonadal condition" showing highest values on the reproductive cycle (May, November, January and March). These months coincide with the highest values of the gonadossomatic index. So can be used as an indicative of the period of spawning of Callinectes danae in Lagoa da Conceição, Santa Catarina, Brazil. |

| In the time period between May/92 to Abril/93, 602 (267 males and 335 females) specimens oi P. brasiliensis Latreille, 1817 were collected. The shrimps were captured by night using a hand net in áreas between 30 to 150 cm deep. The amplitude of length ranged from 1,3 to 13,7 cm, the highest frequencies of capture were registered during the Fali between the classes of 7,0 and 10,0 cm. The males present isometric growth and the females negative allometric one. The size of the pre-adult ranged from 8,8 cm for the females and 9,2 cm for the males. The recruiting occurs chiefly in the Summer with intense growth during the Fall-Winter period, reaching a climax with the migration of pre-adults to the ocean in midwinter. |

| Ecological studies including occurrence, relative abundance and spatial distribution of 15 species of Brachyura, as well as the fluctuation in the annual cycle are carried out in mangrove (27º 34' 14" and 27º 35' 31" L.S.; 48º 30' 07"and 48º 31' 33" L. W.), during the year 1986. The hydrological parameters temperature, salinity and pH of surface and intersticial waters were also studied. | Studies on the growth of the blue crab C. danae were carried out by the analysis of size-frequency distributions, and the growth curves were determined for both sexes through Bertalanffy equation. 613 males and 511 females were obtained from 10 collecting sites of the lagoon, at night, monthly from January/88 to July/89. The growth curves in carapace width were described according to the following equations: Wid∞ = 14.0 (1-e-0,6975.t) for males and Wid∞ = 13.3 (1-e-0,6555.t) for females. The growth curves in body weigth were also determined, based on the equations of the growth curves and the relationship between body weight and carapace width. | In the time period between May/92 to April/93, 2693 (1243 males and 1450 females) specimens of Penaeus paulensis Pérez Farfante, 1967 were collected. The shrimps were captured by night using a hand net in äreas between 30 to 150 cm deep. The abundance of P. paulensis is regulated mainly by the temperature, the summer being the season of greater profusion. The major recruiting period takes place in the Spring with shrimps measuring between 1,0 to 3,0 cm and approximately 2,0 months old. The population reaches the pre-adult in the Fall-Winter period with average length between 8,8 cm (females) and 9,3 cm (males). The migration to the ocean occurs during the Winter. | Callinectes ornatus (Ordway, 1863) é a espécie mais abundante de Portunidae, capturada como fauna acompanhante na pesca artesanal do camarão sete-barbas. Durante o período de Agosto de 1996 a Julho de 2002, os caranguejos foram monitorados mensalmente na Armação do Itapocoroy. C. ornatus mostrou flutuações sazonais na abundância com as maiores taxas na primavera e no inverno. A variação da população quando a largura da carapaça variou de 2,0 a 10,0 cm, e a presença de juvenis foi comum ao longo do ano. As espécies apresentaram crescimento alométrico positivo, com os machos e as fêmeas chegando à primeira maturação gonadal com 5,8 e 5,2 cm, respectivamente. A pesca artesanal na Armação do Itapocoroy atua com alta intensidade sobre o estoque adulto. |

| From July 1996 to June 1997, in Armação do Itapocoroy, Penha, Santa Catarina State, Brazil, monthly census were done in three areas of traditional fishery and Itacolomis islands. A total of 10021 seabirds were registered, belonging to eight species, five genus and four families. The average number of seabirds per dragging varied between 80,2 and 113,6. Sterna spp, appeared at first in 43,3% of the released by-catch, followed by Larus dominicanus Lichtenstein, 1823, Fregata magnificens Matheus, 1914, Phalacrocorax brasilianus (Humboldt, 1805) and Sula leucogaster Boddaert, 1783.
