| This study aimed to evaluate the nutritional characteristics and quality of silages of five sorghum genotypes, namely: Volumax, AG2005E, Qualimax, BRS610 and AG2501. The study was conducted at the Experimental Farm Unimontes, in the municipality of Janaúba, state of Minas Gerais. The treatments were distributed in a randomized block design with four replicates. Data were tested by analysis of variance andmeans were compared by Scott-Knott test at a significance level of 5%. The pH values ranged from 3.93 and 4.10. | We evaluated varroa infestation and the performance of Africanized honeybee colonies with queens selected for honey and royal jelly production, and also unselected queens, correlating with climatic variables. In Campo Alegre, Santa Catarina State, Brazil, the experiment I used 10 Langstroth hives and in Mafra, Santa Catarina State, Brazil, the experiment II was performed with 15 Schenk hives. | Pornunça is a species of the genus Manihot that has been cultivated as an option for animal feeding in the Brazilian semi-arid. Leaf area (LA) is important to determine forage plant growth, whose evaluation model has to meet the following characteristics: practicality, precision and low cost. The objective of this study was to set a model to determine the leaf area in Pornunça (Manihot sp.) from morphometric measurements of the leaf. | The aim of this study was to evaluate the performance, ingestive behavior and carcass traits of crossbred Dorper x Santa Inês lambs fed rations containing soybean cake. Twenty-four lambs (4 months of age and 24.3 ± 3.1 kg BW) were used in a completely randomized design with four treatments and six replicates. Treatments were the inclusion of 50, 100 or 150 g kg-1 of soybean cake in the ration, on a DM basis, and a control diet without this ingredient. Rations were offered ad libitum for 75 days and the lambs were slaughtered at 35 to 40 kg BW. | Objetivou-se avaliar a eficácia do formiato de sódio como fonte desse mineral na dieta de frangos de corte, comparando-o com o cloreto de sódio. Utilizaram-se 690 fêmeas de corte Ross, que receberam água e alimentação à vontade, divididas em cinco tratamentos e seis repetições, tendo cada repetição 23 aves. | O objetivo foi avaliar a viabilidade financeira do fornecimento de cinco suplementos elaborados com diferentes fontes de óleo e proteína para abelhas africanizadas submetidas à produção de geleia real. Foi verificado se os investimentos com a suplementação das colônias proporcionam rentabilidade aos apicultores, a fim de proporcionar opções lucrativas para diversificação dos produtos apícolas. | This study aimed to evaluate the effect of temperature on the tissue growth of Red, GIFT and Supreme tilapia strains. Fingerlings of approximately 1.4 g from male populations were reared for a period of 60 days, in three recirculating systems, each system containing 6 water tanks of 0.5 m³, at three temperatures (22, 28 and 30ºC). Ten fish of each recirculation system and each temperature studied were sampled. Fishes have been anesthetized, euthanized and weighed. | One of the main factors to establish productivity of grazing cattle is the estimation of forage intake. For this, the most widely used technique is based on the estimation of fecal output using chromium dioxide as external marker. However, quantification can be expensive and sometimes not precise due to the methodology used for this purpose. | Este trabalho teve por objetivo avaliar indicadores, externos e internos, nos estudos de digestibilidade parcial e total em bovinos. Como indicador externo, foi utilizado o óxido crômico (Cr2O5) e, como indicadores internos, a cinza insolúvel em ácido (CIA) e a fibra em detergente neutro indigestível (FDNI). | Purebred and crossbred calves (n = 3,871) were selected that were born in the sub-region of the Pantanal of Aquidauana (Brazil), derived from Nellore, Brangus, Wagyu, and ½ Brangus + ½ Nellore cows, which were artificially inseminated by bulls of the Aberdeen Angus, Red Angus, Brangus, Nellore, and Wagyubreeds. | This study aimed to assess the influence of thermal conditioning during the first week, and to verify the effect of this, upon the heat challenge by the end of the productive period on performance, heart morphology and carcass yield. | This study was conducted to investigate effects of supplementing different levels (0.0, 0.5 and 1.0% of buffered rumen fluid) of acetonic extract of pomegranate peel on rumen fermentation kinetics of sunflower seed meal (SFM), using in vitro gas production technique. The samples were incubated in syringes containing rumen liquor obtained from three cannulated Iranian Ghezel rams for 2, 4, 6, 8, 12, 24 and 36h. | Este trabalho teve como objetivo avaliar a levedura desidratada de álcool (Saccharomyces cerevisiae) e o zinco (óxido de zinco) como pró-nutrientes em ração inicial para tilápia do Nilo (Oreochromis niloticus L.). As rações experimentais, isoprotéicas (30,00%PD) e isoenergéticas (3200kcal ED/kg dieta) foram suplementadas com 3 níveis de levedura (0,5%; 1% e 2%) e 3 níveis de óxido de zinco (150, 300 e 600mg/kg). | Avaliou-se o efeito da suplementação alimentar com Selênio e Vitamina E sobre os parâmetros seminais de caprinos submetidos à insulação escrotal (IE). Utilizaram-se 12 animais distribuídos, aleatoriamente, em grupos-controle (G1) e Selênio e Vitamina E (G2). Dois meses após o início da suplementação alimentar nos animais do G2, realizou-se IE durante 18 dias. Após este período (IE), a suplementação foi mantida por mais 42 dias (fase pós-insulação escrotal, PIE). Para análise seminal, foram efetuadas seis colheitas de sêmen (antes, durante e após a IE).
