Caracterização agromorfológica do maracujazeiro (Passiflora spp.) Rev. Bras. Frutic.
Crochemore,Maria Lúcia; Molinari,Hugo Bruno; Stenzel,Neusa Maria Colauto.

Phytotoxicity of leaf aqueous extract of Rapanea umbellata (Mart.) Mez (Primulaceae) on weeds - doi: 10.4025/actasciagron.v35i2.16166 Agronomy
Novaes, Paula; Universidad de Cadiz; Imatomi, Maristela; Universidade Federal de São Carlos; Miranda, Maria Agusta Ferraz Machado; Universidade Federal de São Carlos; Gualtieri, Sonia Cristina Juliano; Universidade Federal de São Carlos.
Allelopathic substances can be used to develop weed control alternatives based on natural products. The objective of this study was to compare the phytotoxic activity of aqueous leaf extracts of Rapanea umbellata with the toxicity of a synthetic herbicide on the germination and growth of weed species. The weeds species barnyard grass (Echinochloa crus-galli), wild poinsettia (Euphorbia heterophylla) and morning glory (Ipomoea grandifolia) were used. The effects of the aqueous leaf extract of R. umbellata at concentrations of 10% and 5% (g mL-1) were compared to the control (distilled water) and to the synthetic herbicide oxyfluorfen. The average weed germination time was significantly lower (p < 0.05) in control than in extract and herbicide...

Comparison of the allocation of phytomass in soybean and bean and its potential role in biological nitrogen fixation - doi: 10.4025/actasciagron.v34i3.13942 Agronomy
Portes, Tomás Aquino; Universidade Federal de Goiás; Araújo, Bárbara Regina; Universidade Federal de Goiás.
Soybean is a self-sufficient specie in nitrogen acquisition due to their efficient association with diazotrophs. Unlike bean, which requires nitrogen supplementation, soybean is not dependent on nitrogen fertilization. This interspecies difference may be related to the allocation pattern of photosynthates during their growth cycles. Distinct from soybean, common bean cannot maintain their active nodules until the end of their growth cycle due to the unavailability of photosynthates in their roots after flowering. To compare the partitioning of the phytomass in soybean (Glycine max (L.) Merrill) and common bean (Phaseolus vulgaris L.) species during their ontogenetic cycles, a growth analysis experiment were conducted with Favorita BRS and BRS Pontal...

Biological spectrum and dispersal syndromes in an area of the semi-arid region of north-eastern Brazil Biological Sciences
Lima, Elimar Alves de; Melo, José Iranildo Miranda de.
The biological spectrum and diaspores dispersal syndromes of the species recorded in a stretch of vegetation in a semi-arid region within the Cariri Environment Protection Area, Boa Vista, Paraíba State (northeast) Brazil, are described. Collections were made from fertile specimens, preferentially bearing fruit, over a 15-month period. Life forms and syndromes were determined by field observations using specialized literature. One hundred and sixty-six species, distributed into 123 genera and 41 families, were reported. Abiotic syndromes (autochory and anemochory) represented 69.7% of all syndromes identified, whilst 30.3% of the species were classified as zoochory. In the life form spectrum therophytes represented 27.7% of species, followed by small- and...

The genus Senna Mill. (Leguminosae: Caesalpinioideae) in the Serra Geral of Licínio de Almeida, Bahia, Brazil Biological Sciences
Azevedo, Francislainy Pereira de; Conceição, Adilva de Souza.
Senna includes about 300 species with circumtropical distribution, widely represented in the Americas, also occurring in Africa, Australia, Asia and Oceania. The genus is represented in Brazil by 80 species, of which 26 are endemic. The Serra Geral de Licínio de Almeida (SGLA), situated in the central portion of the Cadeia do Espinhaço, state of Bahia, Brazil, presents areas relatively little studied, with great potential for the registration of new information about Brazilian biodiversity. The floristic survey of Senna in the SGLA included analysis of specimens collected from February 2012 to October 2013. The analyses were supplemented with dried collections from the following herbaria: ALCB, BHCB, HUEFS, HUNEB, HRB, MBM and SPF.The genus is represented...

Effect of seed coat on the seed germination and seedling development of Calophyllum brasiliense Cambess. (Clusiaceae) Biological Sciences
Jesus, Valquíria Aparecida Mendes de; Braccini, Alessandro Lucca; Scapim, Carlos Alberto; Santos, Fábio Lúcio; Mariucci, Giovanna Emanuelle Goncalves; Suzukawa, Andréia Kazumi.
This work aimed to study the effect of the Calophyllum brasiliense seed coat on the seed germination process. To this end, three experiments were conducted in laboratory, greenhouse and screenhouse. From a total of six treatments, five are related to the seed coat (mechanical scarification; mechanical scarification followed by 2 hours in water, chemical scarification, hot water immersion and complete seed coat removal) and one control. Laboratory and greenhouse experiments were conducted in a completely randomized design (CRD). Screenhouse experiment was conducted in a completely randomized block design (RBD). We evaluated the total percentage, the speed index and the average time of germination or emergence. Data were subjected to analysis of variance and...

Floral, reproductive and pollinators biology of Myrcianthes pungens (Berg) Legrand, neglected species Biological Sciences
Guollo, Karina; Wagner Junior, Américo; Kosera Neto, Carlos; Dallago, Adriana; Svidzinski, Rayana Stival; Radaelli, Juliana Cristina.
Studies related to floral biology are essential for the understanding of the ecological relations between different species, and the beginning of breeding programs. In this way, the aim of the study was to elucidate aspects of floral and reproductive biology and floral visitors of this species. Information about floral morphology and morphometry, anthesis, nectaries and pollinator attractive structures, characterization of floral visitors, receptivity of androcytic stigma and maturation, in vitro pollen storage and germination, and characterization of the reproductive system were obtained. The guabiju tree has hermaphrodite flowers, and the floral opening occurs mainly during the night, but also in the morning. Anthers are the main attractive structure to...
