Tissue distribution and deposition pattern of a cellulosic parenchyma-specific protein from cassava roots BABT
Souza,Petrônio A.S.; Gomes-Filho,Enéas; Campos,Francisco A.P..
A protein with a molecular mass of 22kDa was purified from the cellulosic parenchyma of cassava roots. The amino acid composition of the protein was determined and antibodies generated against the purified protein were used to show that the concentration of the protein remains unchanged during root "tuber" formation. By using a tissue printing technique, as well as western blot, it was shown that the cellulosic parenchyma was the only root tissue in which the protein was deposited.

Ciocca,Bárbara Etruri; Munhoz,André Luiz Jardini; Cardoso,Guinea Brasil Camargo; Rodigues,Ana Amélia; Pattaro,Ana Flávia; Kaasi,Andreas; Maciel Filho,Rubens.
Abstract Tissue engineering suggests different forms to reconstruct tissues and organs. One of the ways is through the use of polymeric biomaterials such as poly(L-lactic acid) (PLLA). PLLA is a recognized material in tissue engineering due to its characteristics as biocompatibility and bioresorbability. In this work PLLA fibrous membranes were produced by a simple technique known as rotary jet spinning. The rotary jet spinning consists of fibrous membranes production, with fibers of scale nano/micrometric, from a polymeric solution through the centrifugal force generated by the equipment. The membranes formed were subjected to preliminary in vitro assays to verify the cytotoxicity of the membranes made in contact with the cells. Direct cytotoxicity assays...

In silico molecular modeling and docking studies on the leishmanial tryparedoxin peroxidase BABT
Mutlu,Ozal.
Leishmaniasis is one of the most common form of neglected parasitic disease that affects about 350 million people worldwide. Leishmanias have a trypanothione mediated hydroperoxide metabolism to eliminate endogenous or exogenous oxidative agents. Both of 2-Cys peroxiredoxin (Prx) and glutathione peroxidase type tryparedoxin peroxidase (Px) are the terminal enzymes in the trypanothione dependent detoxification system. Therefore absence of trypanothione redox system in mammals and the sensitivity of trypanosomatids against oxidative stress, enzymes of this pathway are drug targets candidates. In this study, 3D structure of tryparedoxin peroxidase (2-Cys peroxiredoxin type) from Leishmania donovani (LdTXNPx) was described by homology modeling method based on...
