ABSTRACT Melon producers, in Chapada do Apodi, Rio Grande do Norte State, Brazil, located between the states of Ceará and Rio Grande do Norte, have cultivated corn in succession to the melon crop. However, this crop rotation is not yet evaluated on the extent to which the residual effect of nitrogen and phosphate fertilization carried out in melon can supply partially or completely the corn demands of nitrogen and phosphorus. ABSTRACT Fertilizers supply in the appropriate period and dose is important to obtain satisfactory production. In this research we studied the effect of different split applications and doses of nitrogen in top dressing on the production of the carrot and the physicochemical characteristics of the roots. Nine treatments, resulting from a factorial of 4x2+1 (control without nitrogen fertilization), were evaluated in the randomized blocks experimental design, with four replications. ABSTRACT The fertilization of potato crops generally does not take into account the genotype, although genotypes may respond differently to fertilization. This study aimed to determine the yield of new potato genotypes (cultivar BRS Camila and clone CL 02-05), as well as the cultivar Ágata, submitted to four NPK 4-14-8 fertilizer doses (0, 2, 4 and 6 t ha-1) in the crop seasons of 2013/14 and 2014/15. Abstract Nutrient need in each development stage of plant is showed by nutrient accumulation curve; this is an important tool for fertilization recommendation. However, researches on vegetables with the objective to estimate these curves are scarce, mainly in the modern hybrids that show higher productivity potential and, probably, higher nutrient demand. ABSTRACT: The objective of this research was to test the hypothesis that when lettuce plants grow under root confinement, development and yield is reduced and that such negative effects may be compensated by increasing nitrogen availability in the rooting media. The experiment was conducted between August 11st and September 23rd 2011. Lettuce transplants, cultivar Stella, bearing five leaves, were planted in pots using sand as substrate. No Pantanal Mato-Grossense, os solos arenosos (Podzois Hidromorficos) que compoem as sub-regioes da Nhecolandia e dos Paiaguas sao de baixa fertilidade. Nos niveis geomorficos pouco susceptiveis ao alagamento, foram feitos experimentos com o objetivo de testar efeitos da aplicacao de nutrientes, calcario e biofertilizante em forrageiras. Em area de "cordilheira" (cordao arenoso) de baixa fertilidade, Brachiaria decumbens respondeu a aplicacao de nutrientes. Apos tres anos de cultivo respondeu a nitrogenio, enxofre e potassio. A adicao de fosforo e micronutrientes nao acusou aumento na producao de massa verde de Stylosanthes hamatanem de Pueraria phaseoloides em "cordilheiras" com mata onde o solo arenoso e fertil. O estudo da fertilidade em casa de vegetacao com tres series de Podzol hidromorfico, que representam a catena deste solo na sub-regiao de Nhecolandia e Paiaguas, apresentou dados variavies. Ha deficiencias generalizadas de macronutrientes e as doses testadas de micronutrientes foram aparentemente inadequadas, principalmente o boro, que foi toxico.
