Penman-Monteith with missing data and Hargreaves-Samani for ETo estimation in Espírito Santo state, Brazil AGRIAMBI
Venancio,Luan P.; Cunha,Fernando F. da; Mantovani,Everardo C.; Sediyama,Gilberto C.; Eugenio,Fernando C.; Aleman,Catariny C..
ABSTRACT The Penman-Monteith method (PM-FAO) is recommended as standard for calculation of reference evapotranspiration (ETo). However, its use requires a series of meteorological variables that is not normally available, restricting its application in many locations. A solution to the problem of unavailability of meteorological data was presented in FAO Bulletin 56, which contains methodologies for estimating wind speed, solar radiation and relative humidity. The objective of the present study was to evaluate the performance of the PM-FAO methodologies for missing data and Hargreaves-Samani as alternatives to the PM-FAO standard method at different time scales and seasons for the municipalities of Linhares and São Mateus, located in the northern region of...

Microclimate and thermal comfort indices in silvopastoral systems under different planting directions and seasons AGRIAMBI
Carvalho,Rafael P. de; Heid,Debora M.; Davide,Livia M. C.; Piletti,Ligia M. M. da S.; Jesus,Fernanda L. F. de; Viegas Neto,Antonio L..
ABSTRACT The orientation of tree-rows in a silvopastoral system associated with different seasons of the year allows more or less sunlight penetration, resulting in deliberate modification of the microclimate composition and thermal conditions provided to animals. In this sense, the aims of this study were to evaluate microclimatic variables and thermal comfort indices for east-west and north-south oriented silvopastoral systems, compared to unshaded systems during summer and winter. The study was conducted at the Modelo II Farm (21° 08’ S 53° 17’ W) at an altitude of 354 m. A randomized block design in scheme of split-split plots with five repetitions was adopted. Two planting directions and a control treatment (unshaded) were evaluated in the plots....

Botanical source investigation and evaluation of the effect of seasonality on Brazilian propolis from Apis mellifera L. Scientia Agricola
Tomazzoli,Maíra Maciel; Zeggio,Amélia Regina Somensi; Pai Neto,Remi Dal; Specht,Leandro; Costa,Christopher; Rocha,Miguel; Yunes,Rosendo Augusto; Maraschin,Marcelo.
ABSTRACT: Bees generally use different botanical sources of resins for the production of propolis. The elucidation of botanical sources of propolis and identification of the effects of seasonality on the chemical profile of propolis are recognized as two important aspects in the development of a high quality product. Thus, our objective was to elucidate the botanical source and identify the effect of the seasons on the chemical profile of propolis produced in southern Brazil. The chemical profile of the samples was analysed by spectrophotometric and chromatographic techniques and the results were coupled to multivariate analysis. Field observation of the foraging behaviour of Apis mellifera L. revealed its preference for the Baccharis dracunculifolia DC....

This study evaluated the microclimate in a system without shade (WS) and in a silvopastoral system (SP) with eucalyptus during summer and winter, by measuring the air temperature (Ta), black globe temperature (Tg), relative humidity (RH), wind speed (Ws), every 2 hours for 24 hours between rows, shade (SP) and no shade effect (WS). It was employed the randomized blocks design (months), in the plots (systems), subplots (hours) and sub-subplots (seasons). Except for Ta and RH, the Tg (24.73, 26.41ºC), Ws (3.16, 4.57 m s-1), Black globe-humidity index (BGHI) (71.83, 73.84), Thermal load index (TLI) (74.53, 76.11) and Radiant thermal load (RTL) (526.46, 595.80 W m-2), respectively for SP and WS, were higher in WS. Ta, RH and Ws had a quadratic effect of hour....

The role of phytophysiognomies and seasonality on the structure of ground-dwelling anuran (Amphibia) in the Pampa biome, southern Brazil Anais da ABC (AABC)
MARAGNO,FRANCIÉLE P.; SANTOS,TIAGO G.; CECHIN,SONIA Z..
ABSTRACTConsidering that habitat use by amphibians is related both with climate and environmental features, we tested the hypothesis that anuran assemblages found in different phytophysiognomies and in different seasons vary in structure. Additionally, we searched for species which can be indicators of habitat and seasons. The study was conducted in the Pampa biome, southern Brazil. Sampling was done through pitfall traps placed in three phytophysiognomies: grassland, ecotone grassland/forest; and forest. The seasonality factor was created by grouping months in warn and cold seasons. Sixteen species were found and the assemblages were influenced both by phytophysiognomies and climatic seasonality. In a paired comparison, the three phytophysiognomies...
