Thirteen populations belonging to seven species of Penaeid prawns (Crustacea, Decapoda) were analyzed at 29 protein loci. The authors show that both inter and intrapopulational genetic diversity are very low. These results are discussed in view of their use as guidance for aquaculture programs.

The reproductive biology of Ramnogaster arcuata inhabiting waters of the Rio de la Plata estuary (Argentina - Uruguay) was studied by using macroscopic and histological analysis of ovaries. R. Arcuata specimens were collected from two research cruises of the National Institute of Fisheries Research and Development (INIDEP) carried out in June 1998 and June 1999. During these surveys, bottom salinity and temperature data were also registered. In addition, information about annual catches of this species in the Rio de la Plata, obtained from different INIDEP cruises performed during the last ten years, was analyzed. Période de ponte, sex-ratio et maturité sexuelle du brochet de mer Sphyraena sphyraena (Teleostei, Sphyraenidae) au nord et a l’est de la côte Tunisienne (mediterranée occidentale et centrale) OceanDocs

Neuf cent vingt et un (921) spécimens du Brochet de mer (Sphyraena sphyraena) dont 366 mâles et 519 femelles ont été récoltés au Nord et à l’Est de la côte tunisienne. La période de frai se déroule d’avril à août avec un maximum au mois de mai. L’analyse des rapports gonado–somatique (RGS) et hépato-somatique (RHS) montre que les réserves vitellines sont stockées au niveau du foie, ce qui permet de classer cette espèce parmi les poissons maigres. L’étude de la sex-ratio exprimée par mois et par classe de taille, montre que les femelles sont significativement dominantes tout au long de l’année, sauf pour les mois de mai et juin au cours desquels les proportions s’inversent significativement en faveur des mâles de taille comprise entre 25 et 29cm. La biologie reproductive, la relation taille-masse ainsi que la condition relative de l’anchois Engraulis encrasicolus et de la sardine Sardina pilchardus ont été étudiées le long des régions Nord, Golfe de Tunis, la région Est et la région Sud des côtes tunisiennes durant la période 2000-2002. Pour l’anchois et la sardine, la sex-ratio globale pour toutes les côtes tunisiennes est voisine de 1,0. L’acquisition de la taille de première maturité sexuelle semble être influencée par la température de l’eau dans les quatre régions. Biologie de l'anchois (<Engraulis encrasicolus>) en Mauritanie OceanDocs

L’étude du cycle sexuel de l’Anchois montre que la principale période de reproduction s’étend d’avril à octobre. Celle-ci serait sous la dépendance principale de l’élévation de la température de surface. La croissance, abordée à l’aide des marques supposées journalières sur les otolithes, donne des résultats jugés satisfaisants jusqu’à 10 cm L.F. Par contre, ceux concernant les tailles supérieures devront être confirmés.

Diagnostic des pêcheries du poulpe (octopus vulgaris) dans les eaux sous juridiction sénégalaise. Rapport définitif OceanDocs
Les seiches, poulpes, calmars et nautiles forment la Classe des Céphalopodes de l’Embranchement des Mollusques de grande taille, exclusivement marins. Leur croissance est rapide, leur arrivée à la maturité sexuelle précoce et leur durée de vie courte. Le poulpe a une très large aire de distribution incluant les eaux maritimes tropicales. Elle abonde surtout en Méditerranée, dans les eaux japonaises (Océan Pacifique) et dans l’Atlantique Centre-Est qui s’étend du Maroc à l’Angola. La pêche du poulpe s’est développée au large du Sahara dans les années 1960. Competition between the sibling species <i>Tisbe holothuriae</i> and <i>T. battagliai</i> (Harpacticoida) OMA

The influence of the salinity on the performance of the sibling species <i>Tisbe holothuriae</i> and <i>T. battagliai</i> in pure and mixed cultures was studied, using laboratory stocks adapted to 32 pro mille for over 175 generations. Cohort studies show that <i>T. holothuriae</i> has higher growth rates (R<sub>0</sub> and r) at 32 pro mille, <i>T. battagliai</i> at 20 pro mille. The latter's life cycle is much less affected by the difference in salinity. 'De Wit' replacement series were used to study competitive interactions. Without water renewal, <i>T. holothuriae</i> eliminates its sibling species in less than 2 generations, apparently through chemical interference. With water...
