Qualidade da silagem do capim-elefante BRS Capiaçu. Infoteca-e
RETORE, M.; ALVES, J. P.; ORRICO JUNIOR, M. A. P.; MENDES. S. S..

The cuttlefish Sepia officinalis, is one of the main species capted in the Basse-Normandie fisheries. These animals are principally exportated in eviscerated and frozen form to mediteranean countries and to Japan. Then, high quantities of co-products are available from factories transformation of cephalopods. Enzymological and biochemical studies on co-products demonstrated an elevated potential in the valorisation of viscera by silage technical. Two silages are developed in our laboratory: LBBMA4 and LBBMA25. Primarly, they are studed in vitro as substrate for the culture of micro-organisms. This study established that silage LBBMA25 permits to obtain good growth cinetic and biomass, with comparable results to commercial peptone. Secondary, silages can be...

Increase of grain and green matter of corn by liming Rev. Bras. Ciênc. Solo
Ernani,P. R.; Nascimento,J. A. L.; Oliveira,L. C..
Despite the fact that aluminum toxicity to crops is eliminated near soil water pH of 5.5, lime recommendation in many regions aims to increase soil pH up to 6.0 or even higher. For highly buffered soils, high rates of limestone are required to raise the pH from 5.5 to 6.0, resulting in additional, sometimes unnecessary, costs. The objective of this study was to evaluate the effect of soil pH on corn yield in a very acid Hapludox. The experiment was carried out in Lages, Southern Brazil, from 1992 to 1996. The soil had water pH of 4.7, Al3+ of 33 mmol c kg-1, O.M. of 45 g kg-1 and lime requirement to pH 6.0 of 9.0 t ha-1. Dolomitic limestone at rates of 0, 4.5, 9.0, 13.5 and 18.0 t ha-1 (equivalent to pure CaCO3) was incorporated into the soil down to 17 cm...

Crop yield and nutrient balance influenced by shoot biomass management and pig slurry application AGRIAMBI
Pandolfo,Carla M.; Veiga,Milton da.
ABSTRACT Crop systems that export large amounts of nutrients from the farm may require higher doses of animal manure than those needed for grain production. This study aimed to evaluate the yield of crops and to determine the simplified nutrient balance in three management systems of shoot biomass of crops (cover-grain, cover-silage and hay-silage) associated with five fertilization treatments (control, soluble fertilizer and three doses of pig slurry). The experimental design was a split plot, arranged in randomized blocks with four replicates. The management systems of shoot biomass did not affect the yield of the winter pasture, but there was an increase in yield with the application of pig slurry. The summer crops responded differently to...

ABSTRACT In this study, we examined the effects of lactic acid bacteria (LAB) inoculant and beet pulp (BP) on the quality of yacon (Smallanthus sonchifolius) residue silage. Yacon silage was prepared using a small-scale system of silage fermentation, and the treatments were as follows: control silage without any additive and silages with LAB inoculant Chikuso-1 (Lactobacillus plantarum, 5 mg/kg, fresh matter basis), BP (30% fresh matter basis), and LAB+BP. Silages were opened on days 3, 5, 7, 15, 30, and 60 of fermentation. The chemical composition, organic acid content, and in vitro ruminal digestion of the 60-day silage were determined. The pH of LAB-treated silage was lower than that of the silage without LAB. Furthermore, the LAB-treated silage...

Characterization of the oils present in acid and fermented silages produced from Tilapia filleting residue R. Bras. Zootec.
Vidotti,Rose Meire; Pacheco,Maria Teresa Bertoldo; Gonçalves,Giovani Sampaio.
The objective of this study was to determine the quality and composition of fatty acid in the lipid fraction of silages obtained from the residue of tilapia processing. Stratification of the lipid layer of the silages occurred at different times among the two types of silage (acid and fermented) and the greatest volume of oil was observed in acid silage (8.67% p/p). Although acid silage was more oxidized, it showed lower contents of free fatty acids probably because the degree of hydrolysis of its components is lower than that of fermented silage. Fatty acid composition did not differ among processes inasmuch as level of ϖ-3 was slightly higher in fermented silage. According to the degree of saturation, monounsaturated fatty acids stood out as the...
