| The occurrence of nitidulid beetles of the genus Carpophilus in the Netherlands (Coleoptera: Nitidulidae) Some species of the genus Carpophilus (Coleoptera: Nitidulidae) may act as pests of stored products like cocoabeans, peanuts, dried fruits like figs and dates, imported from tropical or subtropical countries. The aim of this study is to review the status of the seven recorded species in our country. Carpophilus sexpustulatus is a European species which occurs naturally in the Netherlands. It is the only species which has not been found in dried food stuffs. The other six species are imported with dried fruit, seeds and nuts. | The West Palaearctic species of the genus Bassus Fabricius, 1804 (Braconidae: Agathidinae) are revised and keyed, together with the similar Agathis mediator group. Twenty-two species of Bassus and four species of the Agathis mediator group are recognized, of which three are new: B. barbieri from Algeria, B. epinotiae from Great Britain, and B. graecus from Greece. | The presence of the mole cricket Gryllotalpa gryllotalpa on the Dutch wadden island Texel (Orthoptera) This note addresses the distribution of the mole cricket (Gryllotalpa gryllotalpa (Linnaeus, 1758)) on the Dutch wadden island Texel. In 1998 and 1999, records of this species were published in a local newspaper. Later, more records got known. Until then, there were no known records of this species of Texel nor from the adjacent mainland. It became known that in the year 1900 large numbers of nests of mole crickets were found in a tree nursery on the island and that a population had been living in the surrounding area all through the 20th century. | Three times does the trick, Chalcosyrphus eunotus back on the species list of the Netherlands (Diptera: Syrphidae) Chalcosyrphus eunotus (Loew, 1873) has already been reported twice for the Netherlands, in 1958 and 1965. Both times re-examination of the specimens showed that it concerned Criorhina pachymera (Van der Goot 1969, Van der Linden 1988). On April 6, 2000 a male C. eunotus was caught near Elsloo (Limburg, the Netherlands). The distribution, flight period and habitat of C. eunotus are summarised, and many new European records are given.
