Doryctorgilus gen. nov. and other new taxa, with a study of the internal microsculpture of the ovipositor in the subfamily Orgilinae Ashmead (Hymenoptera: Braconidae) Naturalis
Braet, Y.; Achterberg, C. van.
One new monotypic genus of the subfamily Orgilinae Ashmead, 1900 (type species: D. morvanae spec. nov.), two new species of the genus Podorgilus van Achterberg, 1994 (P. nemorensis spec. nov. and P. luteus spec. nov.) and one new species of the genus Agathis Latreille, 1804 (A. depressifrons spec. nov.) are described. The internal microsculpture of the ovipositor in several genera of the subfamily Orgilinae has been examined and revealed several new features with a potentially high phylogenetic value. A cladistic analysis has been performed with some of these new character-states which corroborate the recognition of the tribe Mimagathidini Enderlein, 1905 (excluding the subtribe Mesocoelina Viereck, 1918), and support the division of this subfamily into...

Circumscription and nomenclature of Hiraea barclayana, H. reclinata, and H. ternifolia (Malpighiaceae), and of seven species misassigned to them Naturalis
Anderson, C..
A review of collections from Mexico to northern South America that had been primarily determined as H. barclayana, H. reclinata, and H. ternifolia, or synonyms, showed them to include ten species. Misinterpretations were caused by superficial morphological similarities and traditional nomenclatural errors. The species now recognized include six previously described: H. barclayana, H. hookeriana (formerly included in H. reclinata), H. reclinata, H. sanctae-marthae, H. ternifolia, and H. transiens. Four new species are proposed: H. mcvaughii, H. silvicola, and H. venezuelana; H. trianae was previously recognized at varietal level and is elevated to species. A neotype is chosen for H. reclinata. Lectotypes are designated for H. velutina (= H. barclayana) and...

Critical thermal limits of Poecilia caucana (Steindachner, 1880) (Cyprinodontiformes: Poeciliidae) Neotropical Ichthyology
Martínez,Juan Diego; Cadena,Carlos Daniel; Torres,Mauricio.
Abstract Although temperature has far-reaching effects on fish biology, the thermal tolerance ranges of most freshwater fish species are unknown. This lack of information precludes forecasting responses to climatic change and does not allow for comparative analyses that may inform evolutionary and biogeographic studies. We used the critical thermal methodology to quantify acclimation capacity and thermal tolerance in the Neotropical freshwater species Poecilia caucana . For fish acclimated to 20˚C, 25ºC, and 28ºC, critical thermal minima (CTmin) were 12.52 ± 0.62ºC, 13.41 ± 0.56ºC and 14.24 ± 0.43ºC respectively, and critical thermal maxima (CTmax) were 38.43 ± 0.64ºC, 40.28 ± 0.92ºC and 41.57 ± 0.27ºC, respectively. Both CTmin and CTmax changed with...

Development of microsatellite loci and population genetics in the bumblebee catfish species Pseudopimelodus atricaudus and Pseudopimelodus magnus (Siluriformes: Pseudopimelodidae) Neotropical Ichthyology
Rangel-Medrano,José David; Márquez,Edna Judith.
ABSTRACT The Neotropical freshwater catfish Pseudopimelodus atricaudus and Pseudopimelodus magnus are two recently discovered species endemic to the Colombian Magdalena-Cauca River basin. In this study, a set of 13 microsatellite loci were developed by using next generation sequence technology to assess the genetic diversity and population structure in P. atricaudus and test for cross-species amplification in P. magnus. Both species exhibited high genetic diversity (P. atricaudus: Na: 9.000 - 9.769 alleles/locus, Ho: 0.760 - 0.804, HE: 0.804 - 0.840; P. magnus: Na: 12.8 - 5.4 alleles/locus, Ho: 0.638 - 0.683, HE: 0.747 - 0.755) compared to the mean levels of genetic diversity reported for Neotropical Siluriformes, and lack of genetic differentiation among...

Population dynamics of Prochilodus nigricans (Characiformes: Prochilodontidae) in the Putumayo River Neotropical Ichthyology
Bonilla-Castillo,César A.; Córdoba,Edwin Agudelo; Gómez,Guber; Duponchelle,Fabrice.
ABSTRACT The black prochilodus (Prochilodus nigricans) is one of the most landed scaled fish species of the middle and upper parts of the Putumayo River, in the tri-national area between Colombia, Ecuador and Peru. Despite its importance, biological information about this species is too scant to guide fisheries management in this portion of the Colombian Amazon. In this study, 10884 individuals were sampled in the fish markets of Puerto Leguízamo between 2009 and 2017. This sampling was used to document reproductive patterns, but also growth and mortality parameters from length frequency distributions. The size at which all fish were mature was 22 cm Ls, which should be the established as the minimum size of capture to ensure that all fish have had a...

A new species of Suturoglypta from Colombia (Caenogastropoda, Columbellidae) Pap. Avulsos de Zool. (São Paulo)
Simone,Luiz Ricardo L.; Gracia C.,Adriana.
Suturoglypta procera, a new species of Columbellidae, is conchologically described for the Caribbean coast of Colombia. The generic attribution is mainly based on the presence of teeth at outer lip, the long siphon and the deep suture. The new species differs from the other congeners in being elongated, almost turriform, in lacking shell pigmentation, and by poorer sculpture. A syntype of the Caribbean Astyris verrilli Dall is also figured.

ECTOPARASITIC FLIES (DIPTERA, STREBLIDAE) ON BATS (MAMMALIA, CHIROPTERA) IN A DRY TROPICAL FOREST IN THE NORTHERN COLOMBIA Pap. Avulsos de Zool. (São Paulo)
DURÁN,ADRIÁN ALONSO; GARCÍA,DEIVYS M. ÁLVAREZ; GRACIOLLI,GUSTAVO.
ABSTRACT This work represents the first report of host-parasite associations between flies of the family Streblidae and their host bats in the Colombian Caribbean region. Specimens were collected in a dry tropical forest in the Sucre department. A total of 17 species (eight genera) of Streblidae, as well as 19 species from five bat families were recorded. Strebla mirabilis, Trichobius costalimai, Trichobius parasiticus and Paradyschiria parvuloides were the most abundant ectoparasites. Prevalence of ectoparasites on bat assemblage was 48.57%. In nine bat species, more than one Streblidae species were recorded. Trichobius costalimai had the greatest number of host species. We have found remarkable new associations between Artibeus planirostris and...

Variación geográfica de Ninia atrata en Colombia (Colubridae: Dipsadinae) Pap. Avulsos de Zool. (São Paulo)
Angarita-Sierra,Teddy G..

Rada,Marco; Guayasamin,Juan M..

Two new species of Terebra (Gastropoda, Conoidea) from Colombia Pap. Avulsos de Zool. (São Paulo)
Simone,Luiz Ricardo L.; Gracia C.,Adriana.
Two new species of the genus Terebra are described conchologically to the Atlantic coast of Colombia. The species are Terebra colombiensis and T. sterigmoides. They are differentiable mainly because of their sculpture, protoconch and spire angle. They are part of a group of Western Atlantic terebrids informally called "T. doellojuradoi complex" and differ from the Brazilian species in having well-developed pair of folds at columella. This character approaches the species described here to the Argentinean T. doellojuradoi.
