The author gives a preliminary list of all valid names of the species and subspecies of the Palaearctic Osmiini, including genera and their subgenera and notes on their distribution. Since Ducke (1900) no comprehensive study of this group of bees has been published. The list is a first step towards a complete revision and should be useful to future workers on this group.

Cladistic assessment and redescription of Galodoxa torquata Nagy (Hymenoptera, Bethylidae), a striking species with swallow tailed metasomal sternite Naturalis
Azevedo, C.O.; Lanes, G.O..
Females of Galodoxa torquata Nagy, 1974, from the Oriental region, are promptly recognized by the deeply incised and bifurcate posterior margin of the fourth metasomal sternite. Because of this unusual character Nagy (1974) established a subfamily to accommodate it, but a superficial examination indicates that this species might be better placed in the tribe Sclerodermini. In order to test the hypothesis, it is redescribed, illustrated, and cladistically compared with data in literature of representative species of almost all genera of Sclerodermini and three outgroup species. A total of 72 characters extracted from literature are evaluated. The analyses were executed with equally weighted parsimony and implied weighting. Both unweighted and implied...

An early (1850) 'handwritten' shell exchange catalogue of the Leiden Museum, with notes on the collectors Rethaan Macaré and Tischbein Naturalis
Bruggen, A.C. van.
A ‘handwritten’ (lithographed) shell exchange catalogue of the National Museum of Natural History, Leiden (The Netherlands), dated 1850 and containing 864 nominal taxa (861 molluscs and 3 brachiopods), is discussed in the context of the history of the museum. This catalogue must have been distributed in a limited edition to shell collectors interested in the exchange of specimens. Among the exchange partners of the museum were the well-known 19th century Dutch collector Lady (later Dowager) F.J.M. Rethaan Macaré née Ontijd (1812-1887; first published portraits included) and the German P.F.L. Tischbein (1813-1883; first published portrait included); their contacts with the museum are discussed, mainly as regards this catalogue.

Revision of the genus Parzaommomyia Girault (Hymenoptera: Eulophidae), with taxonomic notes on related genera Naturalis
Gumovsky, A.; Ubaidillah, R..
The eulophid genus Parzaommomyia Girault, 1915, is revised and redefined. Five new species are described and illustrated: P. sulensis spec. nov. from Sulawesi and West Malaysia, P. africana spec. nov. from Nigeria, P. crassicornis spec. nov. from Sulawesi, New Guinea and China, P. achterbergi spec. nov. from East Malaysia and Java, and P. incompleta spec. nov. from New Guinea. Species of this genus represent a monophyletic Palaeotropical group characterized by six synapomorphies according to the results of the cladistic analysis of all known (six) species and 20 outgroup taxa coded for twenty-nine characters. The supraclypeal area is delimited by grooves (i. e. both the clypeus and the supraclypeus are delimited), the sensory pores on the scape of the male...

Raemakers, I.P.; Helsdingen, P.J. van.
Eoferreola rhombica, a pompilid new to the Dutch fauna, and its remarkable host, Eresus sandaliatus (Hymenoptera: Pompilidae; Araneae: Eresidae) In 1998 a female specimen of Eoferreola rhombica (Christ, 1791) was collected in a road-verge on the Veluwe. The nearest populations of this species are found in northern France and eastern Germany. It is possible that this insect was transported by traffic from one of these populations. However at the collection site a large population of the rare host spider Eresus sandaliatus (Martini & Goeze, 1778) is known to be present for many years. Therefore the presence of a population of E. rhombica cannot be excluded. Future observations have to reveal the status of this spider wasp in the Netherlands.
