Four new species of the genus Gasteruption Latreille, 1796 (Hymenoptera: Evanioidea: Gasteruptiidae: Gasteruptiinae) are reported from NW China: three from Shaanxi province and one from Ningxia province. The new species (G. bicoloratum Tan & van Achterberg, sp. n., G. huangshii Tan & van Achterberg, sp. n., G. pannuceum Tan & van Achterberg, sp. n., and G. shengi Tan & van Achterberg, sp. n.) and three newly recorded species (G. sinepunctatum Zhao, van Achterberg & Xu, 2012, G. boreale (Thomson, 1883) and G. oshimense Watanabe, 1924) are keyed and fully illustrated. In total, seven species are known from Shaanxi province, which is approximately half of the expected number. The East Palaearctic specimens provisionally identified as G.... |

The genus Microtypus Ratzeburg, 1848 (Braconidae: Microtypinae) is revised, its species are keyed, and a new species, M. petiolatus van Achterberg spec. nov. is described. The type species is redescribed and fully illustrated. The genus Similearinus Glowacki & Karpinski, 1967 is a new junior synonym of Microtypus; S. ilinskyi Glowacki & Karpiński, 1967 is a new junior synonym of Microtypus trigonus (Nees, 1834), and M. dioryctriae Rohwer, 1920 of M. wesmaelii Ratzeburg, 1848. For both senior synonyms neotypes are designated. The Malagasian species that have been placed in Microtypus are excluded and transferred to the genus Stantonia Ashmead, 1904. |

A review of the known specimens of the tribe Cosmophorini Capek, 1958, from the Palaeotropics is given. Twenty-two species new to science are described and figured in this paper. Up to recently (Shaw, 1985; Chen & van Achterberg, 1997) the tribe was unknown from outside of the Holarctic region. Five Oriental species are included into Sinuatophorus van Achterberg, gen. nov. (type species: Sinuatophorus maximus van Achterberg, spec. nov. from Indonesia). Nine Oriental, two East Palaearctic, two Australian and four Afrotropical new species are included in the genus Cosmophorus Ratzeburg, 1848. A key to the Old World species of the Cosmophorini is added. |

Strandesia kimberleyi n. sp. is described from subterranean waters of the Kimberley Region (Western Australia). It belongs to the group of relatively elongated Strandesia Stuhlmann, 1888 species, with no projection on the carapace and with a finely serrated posterior margin of the CR and its claws. The new species is characterized by the asymmetrical valves, elongated terminal segment of the maxillular palp, and the presence of a sensory organ antero-proximally on the first segment of the antennula. This is the first time that this organ is reported in the genus Strandesia. Strandesia purpurascens (Brady, 1886) is redescribed, while for S. variegata (Sars, 1901) and S. obliqua (Brady, 1868) some additional notes on the morphology are provided. A key to... |

Since Darwin's (1854) description of 11 varieties of Megabalanus tintinnabulum (Linnaeus) [as Balanus tintinnabulum], 26 Recent taxa have been assigned to the genus. In this review, two taxa confounded by Darwin are reestablished [i.e., M. crispatus (Schroter) and M. dorbignii (Chenu)]. M. antillensis (Pilsbry) and M. intermedius (Darwin) are placed in synonymy with M. tintinnabulum sensu stricto. M. galapaganus (Pilsbry) is synonymized with M. peninsularis (Pilsbry) and M. xishaensis Xianqui & Liu is considered a synonym of M. occator. Diagnoses and an illustrated key to the species are presented. Lectotypes are designated for M. tintinnabulum, M. crispatus, M. dorbignii, M. coccopoma (Darwin), M. spinosus (Chenu), M. validus (Darwin), and M. ajax... |
