Witte, F.; Oijen, M.J.P van.
Based on ecological and morphological features, the 300 or more haplochromine cichlid species of Lake Victoria are classified into fifteen (sub)trophic groups. A key to the trophic groups, mainly based on external morphological characters, is presented. Of each trophic group a description is given comprising data on taxonomy, ecology and fishery. As far as possible data from the period before the Nile perch upsurge and from the present situation are compared. A list of described species classified into trophic groups is added.

A new genus and two new species of minute leptodactylid frogs from northern South America, with comments upon Phyzelaphryne (Amphibia: Anura: Leptodactylidae) Naturalis
Hoogmoed, M.S.; Lescure, J..
The synonymisation of Phyzelaphryne miriamae Heyer with Eleutherodactylus nigrovittatus Andersson is denied and it is shown that both species are quite distinct in numerous characters. A new genus (Adelophryne) of minute leptodactylid frogs with pointed discs on the toes and a distinctly reduced fourth finger, containing two new species (A. adiastola spec. nov. and A. gutturosa spec. nov.) is described from northern South America. A key to separate the diminutive leptodactylid frogs with pointed toetips is given. The relationships of the new genus are not clear, but possibly are with one of the species groups of Eleutherodactylus, of the subfamily Eleutherodactylinae.

Achterberg, C. van; Quicke, D.L.J..
A review of the known specimens of the tribe Cosmophorini Capek, 1958, from the Palaeotropics is given. Twenty-two species new to science are described and figured in this paper. Up to recently (Shaw, 1985; Chen & van Achterberg, 1997) the tribe was unknown from outside of the Holarctic region. Five Oriental species are included into Sinuatophorus van Achterberg, gen. nov. (type species: Sinuatophorus maximus van Achterberg, spec. nov. from Indonesia). Nine Oriental, two East Palaearctic, two Australian and four Afrotropical new species are included in the genus Cosmophorus Ratzeburg, 1848. A key to the Old World species of the Cosmophorini is added.

On the genus Strandesia Stuhlmann, 1888 (Crustacea, Ostracoda, Cyprididae) with description of Strandesia kimberleyi n. sp. and a key to the extant species of the genus Naturalis
Karanovic, I..
Strandesia kimberleyi n. sp. is described from subterranean waters of the Kimberley Region (Western Australia). It belongs to the group of relatively elongated Strandesia Stuhlmann, 1888 species, with no projection on the carapace and with a finely serrated posterior margin of the CR and its claws. The new species is characterized by the asymmetrical valves, elongated terminal segment of the maxillular palp, and the presence of a sensory organ antero-proximally on the first segment of the antennula. This is the first time that this organ is reported in the genus Strandesia. Strandesia purpurascens (Brady, 1886) is redescribed, while for S. variegata (Sars, 1901) and S. obliqua (Brady, 1868) some additional notes on the morphology are provided. A key to...

Henry, D.P.; Mclaughlin, P.A..
Since Darwin's (1854) description of 11 varieties of Megabalanus tintinnabulum (Linnaeus) [as Balanus tintinnabulum], 26 Recent taxa have been assigned to the genus. In this review, two taxa confounded by Darwin are reestablished [i.e., M. crispatus (Schroter) and M. dorbignii (Chenu)]. M. antillensis (Pilsbry) and M. intermedius (Darwin) are placed in synonymy with M. tintinnabulum sensu stricto. M. galapaganus (Pilsbry) is synonymized with M. peninsularis (Pilsbry) and M. xishaensis Xianqui & Liu is considered a synonym of M. occator. Diagnoses and an illustrated key to the species are presented. Lectotypes are designated for M. tintinnabulum, M. crispatus, M. dorbignii, M. coccopoma (Darwin), M. spinosus (Chenu), M. validus (Darwin), and M. ajax...
