20 Jahre Modellbetrieb für Ökolandbau in Müncheberg. Teil 1: Entwicklung von Humus- und Nährstoffgehalten Organic Eprints

Acht Felder der Versuchsstation des ZALF in Müncheberg in Nordostdeutschland wurden 1993 als Modellbetrieb mit einer Leguminosen-betonten Fruchtfolge auf Ökologischen Landbau umgestellt. Je Feld wurde 1995 ein Monitoringversuch mit je 5 Ernte- bzw. Beprobungsparzellen angelegt. Neben Ernteerhebungen erfolgte eine jährliche Krumenbeprobung zur Untersuchung der Entwicklung der Gehalte an organischem Kohlenstoff (Corg) und Stickstoff (Norg) sowie der P- und K-Verfügbarkeit. Eine deutliche Zunahme der Corg-Gehalte zeigte sich nur auf den Flächen mit Texturklasse Sand. Dagegen stiegen die Norg-Gehalte auch auf den besseren Böden, allerdings in geringerem Maße, an. Effects of reduced tillage on soil organic carbon and microbial activity in a clayey soil Organic Eprints

In a long-term field trial recently launched (2002-2011), located in Frick (878 mm mean annual precipitation) near Basle, Switzerland, the effect of reduced tillage on soil fertility indicators and crop yield was studied in a heavy soil (45% clay) in a crop rotation under organic farming conditions. We present the results of soil analyses after three cropping years (2002-2005). Soil organic carbon (Corg) increased over that period by 7.4% (+1.5 g Corg kg-1 soil) in the 0-10 cm soil layer in the reduced tillage plots, while it remained constant in the ploughed plots. Symbiotic nitrogen fixation and N-transfer in a grass-white clover mixture Organic Eprints

Symbiotic N2 fixation (SNF) and transfer of fixed N from clover to grass in a grass-white clover mixture was measured during two years using 15N isotope dilution techniques. White clover derived from 87 to 99% of its N from the atmosphere. The total SNF ranged from 150 to 277 kg N ha-1 yr-1, which corresponded to 34-45 mg N fixed per gram of white clover dry weight. The transfer of fixed N from clover to grass corresponded to approximately 10 kg N ha-1 yr-1.

Phosphorus (P) is an essential element for all living organisms, and at the current rate of extraction, global reserves will be exhausted in the next few centuries. Often, P balances calculated for organically managed arable systems indicate that more P is removed with the products than applied as fertilizer. Within the IMPROVE-P consortium, the relative P fertilizer effectiveness of most recycling P fertilizers was assessed. Most organic P fertilizers with exception of meat and bone meal have a relatively high relative P effectiveness. Struvite obtained from chemical approaches for P recycling also showed high P effectiveness, while incineration and most other thermal approaches downgraded the final fertilizer value by the loss of organic matter, nitrogen...

Der Landwirtschaftsorganismus als Forschungsgegenstand. Langzeitversuche zum Biologisch-Dynamischen Anbau in Skandinavien 1958-1990 Organic Eprints

Die Langzeitversuche in Järna, Schweden, zeigen: Kompostierung und der Einsatz der biologisch-dynamischen Präparate steigern den Humusgehalt. Anhand verschiedener Düngungsvarianten konnte gezeigt werden, dass Mistkompost und Präparate den Humusgehalt im Boden innerhalb von 14 Jahren um 10% steigerte. Dies zeigt, wie wertvoll der hofeigene Dünger, in Form von Festmist, für den Hoforganismus ist.

SOIL ENZYME ACTIVITIES RECOVERY AFTER ORGANIC TREATMENTS OF DEGRADED AREAS WITHIN VINEYARDS Organic Eprints

Soil enzymes were used to assess the impact of different treatments applied in four farms, each one with three vineyards as replicates, on soil functionality. 8 enzymes related to C, N, S and P cycling were measured and functional diversity indexes were estimated. Three treatments were compared: compost, green manure and dry mulching with respect to degraded and non-degraded soil. The four vineyards showed different enzymatic patterns and response to treatments. Vineyards with the largest difference between degraded and non-degraded soil have benefited more largely from the treatments. In particular, dry mulching seemed to be more effective than green manure or compost, with the exception of San Disdagio. However, the effect the short term.

Agro-ecological Service Crops (ASC) are introduced in the agro-ecosystems to provide or enhance ecological services, thus promoting the whole soil-plant system equilibrium. Soil organic carbon (SOC) concentration is an indicator for assessing soil quality. SOC concentration can be increased by using appropriate crop and soil management which can increase organic matter input into soil and decrease its mineralization rate (Follett, 2001). The aim of this study was to investigate SOC content and dynamics in four inorganic and two organic cropping systems in five crop rotation. Mange års pløjning med traktorhjulet i furebunden samt færdsel med tunge maskiner har betydet, at skadelig pakning af underjorden er et udbredt og tiltagende problem i Danmark. Undersøgelser ved Danmarks JordbrugsForskning viser, at stort set alle danske jorde har et fortættet jordlag under pløjedybden - en såkaldt pløjesål. Mange steder er jorden også pakket længere ned som følge af kørsel med tunge maskiner. Alt andet lige er skadelig pakning et alvorligt problem under økologiske dyrkningsforhold, hvor det vigtigt at bibeholde og fremme en velfungerende og sund jord. Onbereden teeltbedden hebben bewezen een hogere opbrengst te kunnen geven in een groot aantal gewassen. Vooral structuurgevoelige gewassen zoals bladgewassen (spinazie) kunnen hiervan profiteren. Doordat er in principe niet meer over de teeltbedden gereden wordt, kan de bodemstructuur in stand blijven of zich gemakkelijk herstellen. Jammer genoeg is de oogstmechanisatie nog niet passend voor de onbereden teeltbedden. Tot aan de oogst wordt er niet over de bedden gereden en zelfs dit heeft al een effect op de bodemstructuur. Door te kiezen voor een laag gewicht van de oogstmachines ontzien we de bodemstructuur.
