Wirkung biologisch-dynamischer Präparate in Rebbergen Organic Eprints
State of the Art: The majority of vine bio-dynamic growers report positive experiences in terms of plant production but also wine quality. However, quantitative and scientifically proved data are not available. However there is a high interest of the wine growers for appoved data on the efficiency of the bio-dynamic preparations. As in other countries bio-dynamic viticulture is rapidly growing in Switzerland. However, there is very little scientific evidence for the efficiency of the preparations. Thus, science-based recommendations for its use or optimisation cannot be given. Project aims including target group: To show the quantitative effects of bio-dynamic preparations on parameters of plant growth, disease tolerance, soil properties and finally...

Effetto dei suoli degradati sul comportamento vegeto-produttivo della vite Organic Eprints
Zombardo, A.; Puccioni, S.; Perria, R.; Leprini, M.; Priori, S.; Costantini, E.A.C.; Storchi, Paolo.
In Italian vineyards it is common to find more or less extended areas with chemico-physical or biological soil deficiencies and problems in plant vigor and grape production. A reduced agronomic functionality is caused by wrong soil managements and improper land preparation before vine plantations. A strong land transformation alters, in fact, the existing natural balance, causing loss of organic matter and nutrients, erosions, reduction of available water and metal accumulation. This phenomenon affects the growth of vines and the grape yields. The aim of this work is to evaluate the effect of degraded soils on the vineyards of two Tuscan vine-growing regions (Chianti Classico and Maremma Toscana). In two farms, we have identified respectively...

Klimaschutz mit pilzresistenten Rebsorten - Fallstudie eines langjährigen Bioweinbaubetriebes Organic Eprints
Strasser, Alfred; Coray, Maria.
Our biodynamic winery is located near Lake Constance in Switzerland. Since 1989, we have cultivated resistant grape varieties such as Maréchal Foch, Léon Millot, Muscat Bleu, Cabernet Jura, Chancellor and Monarch (red), and Seyval Blanc, Bianca, Solaris, Phoenix and Excelsior (white). As a rule, we avoid applying even organic pesticides, and use solely biodynamic compounds (4 applications/year). The elimination of practically all plant-protection products has enabled us to establish a highly biodiverse organic agro-ecosystem with reduced impact on the environment. In addition, over a 20-year period, this system has resulted in the application of 270 kg less copper over our 4.5-ha surface area, as well as the saving of 18 t of fuel, which can be...

In 2009 konnten...

Einfluss verschiedener weinbaulicher Bewirtschaftungssysteme auf die photosynthetische Leistung der Rebe (Vitis vinifera ssp. Riesling) Organic Eprints
Döring, Johanna Renate; Kauer, Randolf; Löhnertz, Otmar; Stoll, Manfred.
Based on a field trial, the impact of three different viticultural management practices on photosynthetic activity of Vitis vinifera cv. Riesling were compared. The vines were planted in 1991 at Geisenheim (Rheingau, Germany) and the different management practices i.e. integrated (good agricultural practice), organic (EU VO 834/07 and ECOVIN standard) und biodynamic (EU VO 834/07 and DEMETER standard) were established in 2005. Even though all treatments received the same level of nutrients and water the initial measurements of photosynthetic activity differed tendentially. The integrated and biodynamic treatment showed a slightly higher degree of light saturation, as well as photosynthetic activity, compared to the organic treatment.

Production of compost of high quality from bovine wastes and organic olive and vineyard wastes. Organic Eprints
MAMEN, Nassima.
The aim of the thesis was to prepare high quality compost in two different piles from a basis of bovine animal manure charged with olive wastes or viticulture residues, in accordance with the Italian law on the fertilizers (Law n.748/1984 - art. 1c). All the raw materials have been selected from a group of organic farms in Apulia region. The plant residues have been crushed and the bovine animal manure has been prepared before preparing the mixture. Two piles of about 30 tons have been prepared with different composition. The first heap had the following composition: 60 % of bovine animal manure and 40% olive wastes, the second one 70 % of manure and 30% vineyard wastes. In order to produce quality compost chemical and physical analyses have been carried...

Organic Viticulture in Europe Organic Eprints
Willer, Helga; Häseli, Andreas; Levite, Dominique; Tamm, Lucius.
Introduction Organic agriculture is a thriving sector in Europe, and in some countries 10 % of the agricultural area is organic. Not so, however, for organic viticulture: the percentage of organic viticulture land compared to all vineyards is lower than for organic agriculture. This is due to several constraints in the sector of production techniques, in marketing, legislation and state support. Material and Methods So far no official data on the current status of organic viticulture in Europe exist. Even though most countries in the Europe collate data on their land under organic management, information on land use patterns is not always available. For this paper several information sources were used including various conference proceedings on the...

NEMATODE COOMUNITIES AS INDICATORS OF SOIL QUALITY IN VINEYARD SYSTEM: A CASE OF STUDY IN DEGRADED AREAS Organic Eprints
Landi, S.; D'Errico, G.; Simoncini, S.; L'Abate, G.; Priori, S..
The restoring effect of selective agronomic strategies on optimal soil functionality of degraded areas within organic vineyard was evaluated using the nematode community as an indicator of soil quality. Three different restoring strategies were implemented in two organic farms located in Tuscany (Italy). The relative abundance of nematode trophic groups and the maturity index showed that the use of compost improved soil biological quality and increased the abundance of predators. Instead, dry mulching and green manure applications were useful to control the most dangerous nematodes of grapevines, namely the virus-vector Xiphinema index (Longidoridae).

Grosse Chance verpasst – Biowein-Regelung für Europa Organic Eprints
Schmid, Otto; Weibel, Franco.
