The taxonomy of the "species" treated as subspecies of Ropalidia flavopicta (= R. flavopicta-complex) by van der Vecht (1962) were reexamined. Four forms in the complex other than the species in the Philippine Islands are concluded to be valid species: R. flavopicta (Smith), R. javanica van der Vecht, R. ochracea van der Vecht, and R. ornaticeps (Cameron). The two subspecies of the Philippine species, R. flavobrunnea van der Vecht, namely lapiniga Kojima and iracunda Kojima, are sunk into the nominate species. A new species is described based on a female listed under "R. flavopicta flavobrunnea " by van der Vecht (1962). |

Athalia longifoliae is removed from synonymy with A. circularis and is upgraded to the species level from A. circularis ssp. longifoliae. The species is recorded for the first time for the Netherlands (19 localities) and for Germany (one locality). Differences between A. longifoliae and A. circularis are described and some notes on the ecology of A. longifoliae are given. In the Netherlands A. longifoliae was found only in a few limited areas where its host, Veronica longifolia grows, whereas A. circularis is common throughout the Netherlands. As both taxa occur within the same geographical area, do not interbreed and occupy their own ecological niche, these is no reason to treat A. longifoliae as a subspecies of A. circularis. |

Four new species of the subgenus Allodorus Foerster s.s. (= Eubazus semirugosus (Nees)-group s.s.; Braconidae: Helconinae) are described and illustrated: E. abieticola spec. nov. from France, Austria, Switzerland and Germany, E. elongatus spec. nov., E. ochyrus spec. nov., and E. heothinus spec. nov. from Canada. E. abieticola spec. nov. has been reared from Pissodes piceae (Illiger) (Coleoptera: Curculionidae) in the cambium layer of Abies alba Linnaeus, and E. heothinus spec. nov. from P. striatulus (Fabricius) in the trunk of Abies balsemea (Linnaeus). A key to the Holarctic species of the subgenus Allodorus s.s. is added. New synonyms are: Brachistes noctua Ratzeburg, 1844, B. firmus Ratzeburg, 1844, Sigalphus tenthredinum Hartig, 1847, and Calyptus... |
