Alterations of soil chemical properties by eucalyptus cultivation in five regions in the Rio Doce Valley Rev. Bras. Ciênc. Solo
Leite,Fernando Palha; Silva,Ivo Ribeiro; Novais,Roberto Ferreira; Barros,Nairam Félix de; Neves,Júlio César Lima.
Little is currently known about modifications in edaphic characteristics caused by short-rotation eucalyptus and the impacts of these alterations on the sustainability of eucalyptus wood production. This study was carried out to identify theses changes at five sites of eucalyptus plantation in the region of the Rio Doce Valley, state of Minas Gerais, Brazil. Areas with more than three previous eucalyptus cycles, adjacent to pasture land or native forest, were chosen. Soil samples were collected and soil fertility analyzed by routine methods and other fractionation methods in order to measure alterations in the K, Ca and Mg contents as a consequence of eucalyptus cultivation. In the eucalyptus areas, reductions in the exchangeable Ca2+, Mg2+ and K+ contents...

Potassium Fertilization of Eucalyptus in an Entisol in Low-Elevation Cerrado Rev. Bras. Ciênc. Solo
Gazola,Rodolfo de Niro; Buzetti,Salatiér; Teixeira Filho,Marcelo Carvalho Minhoto; Gazola,Raíssa Pereira Dinalli; Celestrino,Thiago de Souza; Silva,Alexandre Costa da; Silva,Paulo Henrique Müller da.
ABSTRACT Potassium (K) is one of the most highly accumulating nutrients in Eucalyptus and, consequently, is heavily exported by the harvesting of wood. Moreover, its availability in the soil in most Brazilian plantation areas is very low, especially in the regions of the Cerrado biome, which has soils with low natural fertility and marked water deficits, implying a lack of nutrient supply and, consequently, a less efficient water use. Our objective was to evaluate the effects of K fertilization on Eucalyptus biomass yield, the addition of nutrients to the soil by leaf deposition, nutrient use efficiency, and soil K availability. The experiment was conducted with clone I144 (Eucalyptus urophylla) in the municipality of Três Lagoas/MS, in a Neossolo...

Machado,Ramires Ventura; Andrade,Felipe Vaz; Passos,Renato Ribeiro; Ribeiro,Roberto Carlos da Conceição; Mendonça,Eduardo Sá; Mesquita,Luiz Felipe.
ABSTRACT Organic acids present in organic matter and, or, exudates by microorganisms and plants can increase the liberation of potassium present in minerals. The objective of this study was to characterize the residue from ornamental rocks and evaluate the release of K from these residues after the application of organic acids. The experiment was conducted under laboratory conditions and followed a 2 × 3 × 5 factorial design with three replicates. The studied factors were: two organic acids (citric acid and malic acid), three ornamental rock residues (R1, R2 and R3) and five organic acid rates (0, 5, 10, 20 and 40 mmol L-1). After agitation, K concentrations were determined in the equilibrium solution. Successive extractions were performed (1, 5, 10, 15,...

Sampling Layer for Soil Fertility Evaluation in Long-Term No-Tillage Systems Rev. Bras. Ciênc. Solo
Vieira,Renan Costa Beber; Fontoura,Sandra Mara Vieira; Bayer,Cimélio; Ernani,Paulo Roberto; Anghinoni,Ibanor; Moraes,Renato Paulo de.
ABSTRACT In no-tillage (NT) systems, there is no plowed layer since the soil is not tilled. Thus, the soil layer for fertility evaluation can be defined as the one in which the fertility indices are affected by the surface application of lime and fertilizers and soil properties have the closest relationship with crop yields. The objective of this study was to determine the most appropriate soil layer under long-term NT for sampling for fertility evaluation in the South-Central region of Paraná, Brazil. A total of 99 field experiments of crop rotations were performed, including soybean, corn, barley, wheat, and white oat, all on Oxisols (Hapludox). Despite the surface application, lime and fertilizers increased base saturation (V) and available K to a depth...

Soybean agronomic performance in response to seeding rate and phosphate and potassium fertilization AGRIAMBI
Ferreira,André S.; Balbinot Junior,Alvadi A.; Werner,Flávia; Franchini,Júlio C.; Zucareli,Claudemir.
ABSTRACT Most studies that found soybean high phenotypic plasticity under different seeding rates adopted the same fertilization levels used for the recommended seeding rates. Therefore, the interaction between these factors is little known. This study aims to assess the interaction between seeding rate and levels of phosphorus and potassium fertilization on soybean growth, grain yield and contents of protein and oil in the grains. The experiment was carried out under a randomized complete block design, in a split-plot scheme, with six replicates. Four seeding rates (150, 300, 440 and 560 thousand viable seeds ha-1) were used in the plots, and two levels of phosphorus and potassium fertilizer were applied in the subplots to meet the export of 3 and 6 t...

Mineral nutrition evolution in the formation of fruit tree rootstocks and seedlings Rev. Bras. Frutic.
Natale,William; Lima Neto,Antonio João de; Rozane,Danilo Eduardo; Parent,Léon Etienne; Corrêa,Márcio Cleber de Medeiros.
Abstract The importance of mineral nutrition to the various plant species has been recognized for many years. Since nutrients are directly linked to physiological and metabolic processes, they promote the growth of rootstocks and seedlings, contributing to the formation of more productive orchards. As a consequence of the lack of technical information for most fruit trees, fertilization in nurseries has still been carried out empirically, sometimes underestimating or overestimating nutritional requirements and compromising the quality of plants produced. Given the importance of mineral nutrition in the formation of high-quality seedlings and the lack of scientific information on the topic, the aim of the present review was to raise interest in further...
