| As organic farming has become an instrument of European agricultural policy the organic sector is required more and more to get politically active. This report presents results from the EU-funded project EU-CEEOFP on the development of organic farming institutions for the period of 1997-2003 in eleven European countries. Institutions of the organic farming sector in new EU member states are still developing and their relation with mainstream farming institutions is characterised by a state of competition. In (old) EU 15 countries and Switzerland this relation is more oriented towards co-operation and has been described as in a state of creative conflict. | There has recently been an increase in interest in the “public goods” that could be provided by a farm alongside its primary function of agricultural production. This paper reviews recent reports on the topic of public goods and, in particular, the public goods provided by agriculture and then goes on to discuss the development of a tool which can be used to assess the provision of public goods on a farm across a range of areas: soil management, biodiversity, landscape and heritage, water management, manure management and nutrients, energy and carbon, food security, agricultural systems diversity, social capital, farm business resilience, and animal health and welfare. |

| In der Fütterung monogastrischer Nutztiere spielt neben der ausreichenden Menge an Rohprotein (XP) auch die Proteinqualität eine entscheidende Rolle. Die Proteinqualität hängt maßgeblich vom Verhältnis der Aminosäuren (AS) untereinander ab. Ein negativer Einfluss steigender XP-Gehalte in verschiedenen Körnerleguminosen auf das AS-Muster ist bereits beschrieben worden (Schumacher et al. 2011, Wang et al. 2004). Da ein hoher XP-Gehalt ein wichtiges Kriterium bei der Sortenwahl ist, ist es von noch größerer Bedeutung, eine solche Abhängigkeit zu erkennen. | There are no records in Brazil for the culture of Pteridae family oysters, genus Pteria and Pinctada. The intermediate culture can be considered one of the critical stages during the oyster farming. The changes in life conditions from a semi-closed environment provided by the collector to the structures utilized for the growth represents a considerable stress factor to which the animals are subjected. | Avaliou-se substâncias alternativas no manejo de tripes (Thrips tabaci Lind.), em cebola, cv, Crioula, no sistema orgânico. Os experimentos foram conduzidos na EPAGRI, Ituporanga (SC). Os períodos entre transplante e colheita foram de 11/09/1996 a 10/01/1997 e 13/08/1997 a 11/12/1997. O delineamento foi de blocos ao acaso com 8 tratamentos em 1996 e 12 tratamentos em 1997 e quatro repetições. | Auf 32 Ökobetrieben in Deutschland wurden von 2009 bis 2012 insgesamt 128 Felder untersucht. Ziel war es wesentliche Faktoren für den Boden-Eindringwiderstand zu identifizieren und die Beziehung zwischen Eindringwiderstands-Parametern und dem Ertrag von Wintergetreide zu prüfen. Auf ca. einem Viertel der untersuchten Felder wurden häufig stark verdichtete Bodenschichten gefunden. Korrelationsanalysen ergaben als wesentliche Faktoren eines großen Eindringwiderstands im Untergrund einen hohen Sandanteil, Flachgründigkeit von Böden, warme Temperaturen, niedrige Kleegras- und Winterfruchtanteile sowie hohe Anteile an Kartoffeln in der Fruchtfolge, große Pflugtiefen und hohe Schleppergewichte. | Hvordan kan sædskiftet indrettes så den økologiske kornproduktion øges uden at bæredygtigheden mindskes? Dette centrale spørgsmål belyses med resultater fra et økologisk sædskifteforsøg, der i 1996/97 blev anlagt på tre lokaliteter i Danmark. Da forsyningen med kvælstof (N) kan være meget kritisk i økologisk kornproduktion blev forsøget designet med fokus på dyrkningsmæssige faktorer der har indflydelse på N-forsyningen. | Forschung zur Weiterentwicklung der Ökologischen Landwirtschaft ist vielfach und in hohem Maße anwendungsorientiert und weist einen hohen Praxisbezug auf. It is an export standard and serves as a de facto domestic standard. It is currently freely available for download. There is a proposaal that the copyright residing in organic standards in Australia be relinquished to a private company which licences and profits from the sale of standards. This article questions this standards-for-sale model and asks whether the community and the organic cause are better served by the standard remaining as an Open Access document, rather than a pay-per-view document. |
