Apesar da semelhança com outros organismos coloniais, como hidrozoários e briozoários, os entoproctos são distintos pelo corpo constituído por um cálice distal com tentáculos ciliados, sustentado por um pedúnculo fixo no substrato através do pé ou estolão. Abstract The Northeastern Atlantic Forest (NAF) has a historic of intense habitat loss and fragmentation. In this context, knowledge of the species from forest remnants is urgently needed and represents a key tool for future studies and conservation strategies. Here, we present the floristic inventory of ferns and lycophytes from the Private Natural Heritage Reserve - RPPN Pedra D'Antas, located in a NAF area. The study area associated with the RPPN Frei Caneca is the Serra do Urubu, which is a hotspot for the diversity of several biological groups in the NAF. Este estudo apresenta a análise comparativa entre duas áreas da Floresta Atlântica Ombrófila Densa Submontana, em Ubatuba (SP), Brasil e testa a hipótese de que diferenças em altitude podem representar alterações na composição florística e estrutura fitossociológica. As duas parcelas de um hectare (100 x 100 m) foram instaladas a 190 (PLOT G) e 350 m (PLOT I) acima do nível do mar, sendo amostrados e identificados todos os indivíduos, exceto lianas, com DAP (Diâmetro à Altura do Peito) > 4.8 cm. This study investigated the effects of forest fragmentation on assemblages of the euglossine bees in the region of Rio Branco municipality, State of Acre, and surrounding areas. Ten forest fragments with varying sizes were selected for the study and were classified as urban or rural. The bees were sampled between December 2005 and August 2006. A total of 3,675 bees in 36 species and 4 genera were collected. In general abundance and richness of bees did not differ statistically between urban and rural fragments.
