Two new species of the genus Homolobus Foerster, 1862, one from Lombok, Java, the other from New Guinea, are described. The genus Westwoodiella Szépligeti, 1904, is redescribed and illustrated; the new tribe Westwoodiellini is created to include it in the subfamily Homolobinae. Rogas pectoralis Herrich-Schäffer, 1838 is synonymized with Homolobus discolor (Wesmael, 1835) syn. nov., and R. simplex Herrich-Schäffer, 1838 with Homolobus annulicornis (Nees, 1834) syn. nov. Homolobus simplex (Watanabe, 1932) nee Herrich-Schäffer, 1838 is renamed as H. watanabei nom. nov. |

Heterospilus fuscexilis spec. nov. is described from England and Sweden. A key to the macropterous European species with the ovipositor sheath projecting not more than half the length of the metasoma and having subbasal sculpture on the third-fifth tergites is added. Heterospilus testaceus Telenga, 1941, is synonymised with H. cephi Rohwer, 1925, the synonymy of H. basifurcatus Fischer, 1960, with the latter is accepted, and H. rubicundus Fischer, 1960, is considered to be a valid species. |

The genera of the Aspilota-group are redefined and keyed. One new genus is described: Leptotrema gen. nov.; type-species: Aspilota dentifemur Stelfox, 1943.The genus Dinotrema Foerster, 1862 is given generic status to include the majority of the species of Aspilota auct.; the genus Pterusa Fischer, 1958 is included in the Alysiini. The genus Eusynaldis Zaykov & Fischer, 1982 is synonymized with Aspilota Foerster, 1862 s.s.; Coloboma Foerster, 1862, Prosapha Foerster, 1862 and Synaldis Foerster, 1862 are new synonyms of Dinotrema Foerster, 1862. Synaldis auct. is divided among Aspilota s.s., Eudinostigma Tobias, 1986 and Dinotrema. Aspilota pneumatica Fischer, 1973 is synonymized with Alysia efoveolata Thomson, 1895. Eight new species from Europe are... |

A key to all known genera of the Sigalphinae (Braconidae) is given and all genera are described and fully illustrated. Two new genera from the Australian region and one from the Afrotropical region are described: Notosigalphus gen. nov. (type species: Sphaeropyx conjugator Turner, 1917), Aposigalphus gen. nov. (type species: Aposigalphus tessi spec. nov.), and Malasigalphus gen. nov. (type species: Malasigalphus petiolaris spec. nov.). Keys to the Australian and Palaearctic species of Sigalphinae are given. The new tribe Afrocampsini is proposed for the Afrotropical genera Malasigalphus gen. nov. and Afrocampsis van Achterberg & Quicke, 1990. Sigalphus hunanus You & Tong, 1991, and S. anonis You & Zhou, 1991, are synonymized with S. irrorator... |

Diapause has been poorly investigated in tephritid fruit flies and in associated parasitoids in tropical regions. In this work, diapause in larval-pupal parasitoids of fruit flies is reported for the region of the Reconcavo Baiano, Brazil. Diapause was recorded for individuals of four native species [Doryctobracon areolatus (Szépligeti), Utetes anastrephae (Viereck), Opius sp. (Hymenoptera: Braconidae), Aganaspis pelleranoi (Brethes) (Hymenoptera: Figitidae)] and of one exotic braconid [Diachasmimorpha longicaudata Ashmead]. Diapausing parasitoids were obtained from fruit fly puparia in fruits collected between November 1998 and April 2000. In all, 1.4% of individuals underwent diapause, being D. areolatus the most frequent. The development time for this... |
