Estudios sobre la factibilidad de una pesquerÍa artesanal con palangres en los golfos y costa de la provincia del Chubut, Argentina OceanDocs
Elias, I.; Pereiro, R..
Artisanal fishing activities bivalve extraction through diving, hand-collection of octopuses and beach seine fishing are currently the only ways to exploit the coastal resources inhabiting the Argentine Northern Patagonian gulfs 42°43°S from the SW Atlantic. These are time-restricted activities. Diving and hand-collection are limited by management and sanitary policies while resource variability and commercial demand limit beach fishing. The objective of this work was to test a productive alternative, i.e., the use of longlines to increase and diversify catches in order to improve commercialization, contribute to a rational management and alleviate the pressure put on the resources exploited at present. Results obtained indicate that profitability of...

Influence of soil tillage and Phoma macdonaldii on sunflower (Helianthus annuus L.) yield and oil quality Phyton
Mirleau-Thebaud,V; Scheiner,JD; Dayde,J.
Plant yield and oil content determine sunflower production. Those plant production determinants depend in turn on the plant-environment interaction. In the South West of France, there have been recent advances in soil tillage. To date, 35% of the soil surface dedicated to sunflower is cropped under a reduced tillage system. Major constraints to sunflower cropping are water stress and cryptogamic diseases. The second most important sunflower disease in the South West of France is premature ripening caused by Phoma macdonaldii. Aims of this work were to: 1) understand how these factors influence sunflower yield, and 2) quantify the fatty acid quality variation under reduced tillage and Phoma macdonaldii infection. Results showed that 1) soil tillage...

Nitrate reductase activity, biomass, yield, and quality in cotton in response to nitrogen fertilization Phyton
Hernández-Cruz,AE; Sánchez,E; Preciado-Rangel,P; García-Bañuelos,M L; Palomo-Gil,A; Espinoza-Banda,A.
In the production of cotton (Gossypium hirsutum L.), nitrogen fertilization is one of the most costly crop practices, but important to reach high yields. However, high nitrogen (N) content in plants does not always translate into a high fibre production. One way of assessing the efciency of the N fertilizer is through the enzymatic activity of the nitrate reductase (NR). This is a key enzyme in N assimilation, whose activity is regulated by a number of endogenous and exogenous factors that determine yield. The aim of this study was to assess the efect of N fertilization on yield, fibre quality, biomass, and NR enzymatic activity in vivo in the cotton variety Fiber Max 989. The evaluated application rates were 0, 50, 100, and 150 kg/ha of N, using urea as a...
