The borer beetle Hedypathes betulinus, plague of "erva-mate" (Ilex paraguariensis St. Hil., 1822), has been subject of study aiming its biological control. Larvae of this insect digs galleries in the stem and branches of this tree, difficulting its control. Labena fiorii sp.n. was found in branches of this tree, parasitizing larvae of Hedypathes betulinus in Teixeira Soares and in "aroeira" (Schinus sp.) in larvae of Chydarteres striatus (Fabricius, 1787) in Curitiba, Paraná, Brazil. Labena fiorii sp.n., from Paraná (Curitiba; Teixeira Soares) and Santa Catarina (Seara, Nova Teutônia) Brazil, is described. |

The ichneumofauna of Capão da Imbuia was studied during three years of capture, using Malaise traps. 114,469 specimens were captured, of which 3,603 belong to 20 subfamilies of ichneumonids. Pimplinae and Poemeniinae in the wood contains 14 genera and 48 species. In the first sample (1978-1979), 23 species were captured; in the second (1985-1986), 21 species were obtained, 13 of which had been previously captured, with an addition of eight species. And in the last sample (1995-1996), 39 species were obtained, of which 17 had not previously been captured. The dominant species, considering the number of individuals, were: Pimpla semirufa Brullé, 1846, Pimpla caerulea Brullé, 1846, Neotheronia aff. hespenheidei, Pimpla golbachi (Porter, 1970), Pimpla... |

Flacopimpla was described with one species, F. varelae by Gauld (1991) from Costa Rica (only females, Guanacaste National Park). This genus is recorded for the first time in Brazil and a new species, F. sulina, is described and the distribution in southeast and south of Brazil is mapped (Minas Gerais: Belo Horizonte; Paraná: Telêmaco Borba, Ponta Grossa, Curitiba, Colombo, Antonina). |

Two hundred and eighty eight bird species were registered in Santa Rita Farm, east of Paraná State in Brazil (28º18'S,49º48'W), from February 1990 to January 1991. Eighty four species were registered in all 12 months and eighty three were registered once during this period. October was the richest in number of species (220) and July was the poorest (137). The natural landscape of the Santa Rita farm is composed of open field with several patches of araucaria forest (from 10 to 40 ha) and some small areas of marshland. Two hundred and eight species occurred only in one of these habitats: 163 in the forest, 35 in the open field and 10 in the marshland. The others often occurred in both forest and open field; there is a gradient of occurrence between them.... |

The species of the tribe Paracolletini are presented as the first part of a commented catalog of Colletidae bees, frora the Neotropical Region. The geographic distribution, flowers, biological behaviour, taxonomy, type locality and depositary museums are mentioned, bibliographic information are given for each species and a new genus, Actenosigynes, is proposed to Leioproctus (L.) fidvoniger Michener, 1989. |
