Four new genera of soft corals (Coelenterata: Octocorallia), with notes on the classification of some established taxa Naturalis
Alderslade, P..
Four new genera, Rhytisma, Klyxum and Skamnarium (family Alcyoniidae) and Sansibia (family Xeniidae), are proposed to accommodate a number of species wrongly assigned to some established genera. A large number of the species concerned have been previously included in the genus Alcyonium, and remarks are made concerning the heterogenous nature of that genus. The reassignment of Parerythropodium hicksoni Utinomi, 1972, to Erythropodium, Alcyonium gracillimum Kükenthal, 1906, to Scleronephthya, and Clavularia hamra to Briareum is also discussed, and the existence of Funginus Tixier-Durivault, 1987, as a replacement name for Fungulus Tixier-Durivault, 1970, is highlighted.

A new species of Alertigorgia (Coelenterata: Octocorallia: Anthothelidae) from the Indo Malayan region Naturalis
Ofwegen, L.P. van; Alderslade, P..
A new species of Alertigorgia from Indonesian waters is described and depicted, and compared with the hitherto only described species in the genus, A. orientalis (Ridley, 1884). The species is part of a unique association in which a mollusc species lives on an octocoral, which on its turn lives on a sponge species.

A case study of variation in two nominal species of Sinularia (Coelenterata: Octocorallia), S. brassica May, 1898, and S. dura (Pratt, 1903), with a proposal for their synonymy Naturalis
Benayahu, Y.; Ofwegen, L.P. van; Alderslade, P..
Two nominal species of Sinularia (Coelenterata: Octocorallia), S. brassica May, 1898 and S. dura (Pratt, 1903), are redescribed and figured. Their synonymy is proposed. Additional material from a number of diverse Indo-Pacific geographic locations is presented.

A new genus and species of soft coral (Octocorallia: Alcyonacea: Alcyoniidae) from Lord Howe Island, Australia Naturalis
Alderslade, P..
Lohowia koosi, a new species and new genus in the family Alcyoniidae, is described from Lord Howe Island, Australia. The new taxon has dimorphic polyps and a similar morphology to some of the flat, lobe-less nominal species of Lobophytum. The new taxon is clearly distinguished, however, by the possession of large, heavily armed autozooids, polypary surface sclerites in the form of large spindles that protrude through the surface, extremely large interior sclerites and base surface sclerites in the form of rods, spindles and ovals.
