Tourism in rural space is a tourism modality which has lately been the focus of investitors and students. However there has been little spread of studies focusing such modality, featuring the characteristics of te industry to which it belongs, showing up-to-date discussions and world trends. This present paper aims to present a historical evolution of the tourism industry, focusing on the reflexes of the industrial management paradigms as well as those of some technological innovations on it, show its features emphasizing its differences in relation to other industry forms and reflect on its trends in Brazil, considering the participation of the rural segment. Detailed investigations about consumer food practices provide interesting information concerning the different manners consumers think about their own behaviors. Considering that consumers have objectives and different anxieties in terms of food that may result in distinct food models, this paper proposes a low-fat consumer typology. The main goal of this work was to better understand the profile of both consumer types (low-fat and non low fat consumers). Food consumers are, in general, concerned with acquiring healthy food which does not pose risks to their health. These preferences are directly related to the way the economic agents organize themselves inside the food sector. In this context, the organic products’ share in the food market is rising considerably, mainly because they consist not only of a healthier product, but also because they contribute positively to the environment. Few researches in Brazil have undertaken the issue of quantification and qualification of public expenditure in S&T and Innovation devoted to agriculture and livestock. This paper presents an innovative evaluation and provides inedited information for public and private decision makers. Expenditure undertook by 48 Brazilian research organizations was evaluated. This set of organizations comprised the universe of federal and state institutes and agencies, as well as some other non-profit organizations, which gave support to research in agriculture and livestock. Produção de biodiesel e óleo vegetal no Brasil: realidade e desafio AgEcon

O governo e a sociedade brasileira têm debatido a matriz energética do país com a intenção de identificar alternativas que diminuam a sua dependência dos derivados de petróleo. O biodiesel tem sido o produto considerado mais promissor para substituir parte do diesel fóssil consumido no Brasil para reduzir a emissão de carbono. Este trabalho procurou analisar os dois mercados (biodiesel e óleo vegetal), identificar a mistura de biodiesel para cada região brasileira e caracterizar a produção de biodiesel e as processadoras de óleo vegetal. Os resultados mostram que o consumo do biodiesel está concentrado nas regiões Sul e Sudeste.
