Danos de Oncideres saga em plantios de Acacia mearnsii no Rio Grande do Sul, Brasil PFB - Pesquisa Florestal Brasileira
Magistrali, Iris Cristiane; Costa, Ervandil Corrêa; Garlet, Juliana; Boscardin, Jardel; Machado, Leonardo Mortari.

Ethanolic model of flight interception trap to capture scolytine (Curculionidae: Scolytinae) PFB - Pesquisa Florestal Brasileira
Murari, Augusto Bolson; Costa, Ervandil Corrêa; Boscardin, Jardel; Garlet, Juliana.
This study aimed to develop an alternative model of trap for interception with ethanol for flying insects, in order to reduce the costs related to surveys of insects of the subfamily Scolytinae (Curculionidae), conducted in forest ecosystems. The model of trap, called PET-SM, was manufactured with recyclable materials: plastic plate, polyethylene (PET) bottle of two liters, PET bottle of 600 mL, and a hose with alcohol 96 GL used as attractive. Compared to other models used to monitor Scolytinae, the PET-SM model proved to be effective for capture, presenting a greater number of species and offering a lower cost of manufacture. doi: 10.4336/2012.pfb.32.69.115

Pecan growth under different soil preparation and hole sizes: coleopterans as bioindicators PFB - Pesquisa Florestal Brasileira
Boscardin, Jardel; Costa, Ervandil Corrêa; Paulus, Eloi; Machado, Dayanna do Nascimento; Pedron, Leandra; Silva, Pedro Giovâni da.
The study aimed to evaluate the effects of different soil preparation and hole sizes in an orchard of Carya illinoinensis pecan (Wangenh.) K. Koch (Juglandaceae) by the Order Coleoptera fauna. A pecan orchard was established in spacing 7 m x 7 m, in Santa Maria, Rio Grande do Sul State, Brazil in randomized block design, with five blocks and four treatments, using: small pit 20 m x 60 cm (Cp); more harrowing subsoiler and small pit (Scp); rotary hoe and small pit (Ecp); and large pit 40 m x 60 cm (Cg). From March 2014 to November 2015, eight samples were taken from Coleoptera fauna, one per season, with four pitfall traps distributed in each treatment and the surrounding area, totaling 100 samples per collection. The Ecp treatment had the lowest diversity...

First occurrence of Terastia meticulosalis preying on seeds of Erythrina crista-galli in the state of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil PFB - Pesquisa Florestal Brasileira
Pedron, Leandra; Costa, Ervandil Corrêa; Garlet, Juliana; Boscardin, Jardel; Machado, Dayanna do Nascimento; Bolzan, Lisandro Cunha.
The present study aimed at identifying which insect species damages seeds of Erythrina crista-galli L. From November 2012 to January 2013, six E. crista-galli trees were selected in the city of Santa Maria, Rio Grande do Sul State, Brazil, and six pods were taken from each tree. Such pods, properly packaged and identified, were taken to UFSM’s forest pest laboratory and stored in plastic containers until the adults emerged. The emerged specimens were identified as Terastia meticulosalis, which consumed 15.42% of the seeds. This is the first reported occurrence of T. meticulosalis preying on seeds of E. crista-galli in the state of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil.

Soil fauna in initial planting of Eucalyptus under different alternatives to weed control PFB - Pesquisa Florestal Brasileira
Garlet, Juliana; Costa, Ervandil Corrêa; Boscardin, Jardel; Machado, Dayanna Nascimento; Pedron, Leandra; Machado, Leonardo Mortari.
The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of different chemical control of alternative weed in soil fauna in initial planting of Eucalyptus grandis. The treatments consisted of partial and full control of the weed vegetation. Collections were conducted through soil trap (pitfall). We collected 26,136 specimens, distributed in 13 taxonomic groups (Araneae, Blattodea, Chilopoda, Collembola, Coleoptera, Diplopoda, Diptera, Hemiptera, Hymenoptera, Termitoidea, Orthoptera, Opilione and young forms). The treatments with remaining weed vegetation presented higher values of evaluated indices.
