STORAGE POTENTIAL OF PEELED CRAMBE FOR OIL QUALITY REA
Santos,Silas da S.; Biaggioni,Marco A. M.; Monteiro,Iara M. C.; Sartori,Maria M. P.; Brandão,Fernando J. B..
ABSTRACT Peeling of crambe fruits, besides increasing the yield of mechanical oil extraction, can increase its apparent specific mass from about 330 to 700 kgm−3, reducing transport and storage operating costs, as well as increasing cake protein content. However, there is no information on the quality of the oil extracted from the stored unpeeled crambe. This study aimed to assess the possible effects of peeling fruits submitted to different storage systems. For nine months, peeled and unpeeled crambe fruits were stored in conventional (permeable) and hermetic packages and water content, fatty acid, and acidity and oil peroxide indices were monitored. The experimental design was a completely randomized design in a 2 x 2 x 3triple factorial, with three...

EFFECT OF DRYING METHODS ON CRAMBE (Crambe abyssinica HOCHST) SEED COAT PIGMENTATION AND ON OIL AND BIODIESEL QUALITY REA
Silva,Magnun A. P. Da; Biaggioni,Marco A. M.; Sperotto,Felipe C. S.; Macedo,Ana C.; Brandão,Fernando J. B..
ABSTRACT The objective of this study was to evaluate the effect of different drying methods on seed coat pigmentation and quality of oil and biodiesel extracted from crambe. The experimental design was completely randomized with five treatments and four replications, totaling 20 plots. The treatments consisted of drying with heated air, natural air, ground, in the shade and in the plant. Physical and chemical analyzes were performed to verify the quality of grain, oil and biodiesel. The largest amounts of chlorophyll a and b and green beans and the lowest oil content were found in artificial drying with heated air. It was concluded that the drying in the plant presented grains and oil of better quality, but do not interfering in the quality of biodiesel,...

Ozonated water in the post-harvest treatment of coffee fruits AGRIAMBI
Brandão,Fernando J. B.; Biaggioni,Marco A. M.; Sperotto,Felipe C. S.; Fujita,Erika; Santos,Paula L.; Silva,Magnun A. P. da.
ABSTRACT Ozone is used in many countries for the treatment of effluents, becoming a viable alternative in sanitation of coffee wastewater. However, the strong ozone oxidation, responsible for its germicidal effect, can also compromise grain and beverage quality. The objective of this study was to evaluate the quality of Arabica coffee in different periods of treatment with ozonated water and its effect after drying. Coffee fruits were subjected to ozonation at regular intervals of 0, 5, 10, 20, and 30 min, with continuous stirring promoted by a recirculating water system at constant rate of 1 ppm of solubilized ozone. The design was completely randomized with five treatments and four replicates. After obtaining the data, the analysis of variance was...
