The baru (Dipteryx alata Vog.) is a native species of Brazilian cerrado, and has been widely used in reforestation, medicine, and food industry. The effects of shading levels, reflective material, and seeding depth on the growth of baru seedlings were investigated in this study. The seedlings were grown in full sunlight, and in three production nurseries constructed with 18%, 30%, and 50% shading screens on growing benches coated or not coated with a reflective material (Aluminet®). Estudos sobre a formação de mudas de árvores frutíferas fornecem informações que auxiliam no sistema de produção das espécies. O objetivo foi avaliar os efeitos dos níveis de sombreamento e substratos na formação de mudas de macieira. Foram avaliados ambientes com níveis de sombreamento 0 (luz solar total), 18, 35 e 50%. Quatro substratos alternativos das combinações de solo, esterco bovino, Bioplant ®, areia fina e vermiculita superfina foram utilizadas. Utilizou-se delineamento inteiramente casualizado para avaliar os substratos, com cinco repetições de cinco mudas e, como não havia repetições dos ambientes de cultivo, foi realizada uma análise conjunta, permitindo a comparação dos ambientes de produção de mudas. The response of lettuce (Lactuca sativa), cucumber (Cucumis sativus) and sweet pepper (Capsicum annuum) seedlings to light spectral quality when grown under continuous illumination was investigated in relation to the growth, dry matter, and seedling quality index.
