| The completion of the genome sequencing of the Arabidopsis thaliana model system provided a powerful molecular tool for comparative analysis of gene families present in the genome of economically relevant plant species. In this investigation, we used the sequences of the Arabidopsis Hsp70 gene family to identify and annotate the Citrus Hsp70 genes represented in the CitEST database. Based on sequence comparison analysis, we identified 18 clusters that were further divided into 5 subgroups encoding four mitochondrial mtHsp70s, three plastid csHsp70s, one ER luminal Hsp70 BiP, two HSP110/SSE-related proteins and eight cytosolic Hsp/Hsc70s. | Synthetic seeds can be an alternative for those species in which botanical seeds are not viable. One of the major problems of in vitro plant cultivation is the high level of somaclonal variation. The most common factors affecting somaclonal variation are genotype, explant source, in vitro period and cultivation conditions in which the culture is established. In this work, calli were induced using leaf and stem explants of the commercial potato cultivars Achat, Baraka, Baronesa, Bintje, and Contenda in MS culture media supplemented with 1.65 mM of picloram and 11.5 mM of 2,4-D. | A divergência genética (D²) entre cinco acessos de berinjela foi estimada para avaliar a eficiência da diversidade na predição do desempenho dos híbridos respectivos. Os acessos PI 206472 e 'Campineira' foram os mais similares, enquanto 'Long Green' e PI 206472 foram os mais divergentes. A associação entre divergência genética dos genitores e desempenho dos híbridos foi analisada por três métodos, apresentando os seguintes resultados: 1) correlações de Pearson (rP) e Spearman (rS): a divergência (D²), mostrou estar linearmente associada ao desempenho médio dos híbridos para o caráter número médio de frutos por planta ( rP = 0,71 e rS = 0,636, P < 0,05) e inversamente relacionada para produção de frutos (g/planta) (rP = - 0,687, P < 0,05); 2)... |

| O estudo teve como objetivo a avaliação da interferência de Trigona spinipes Fabr. (Hymenoptera: Apidae) na polinização e frutificação do maracujazeiro amarelo (Passiflora edulis f. flavicarpa). Foram realizadas polinizações natural e artificial, em flores com ou sem injúrias de T. spinipes. Foram avaliadas a percentagem de vingamento das flores, teor de sólidos solúveis da polpa e peso dos frutos. As flores com injúrias de T. spinipes apresentaram maior vingamento (64%) que aquelas sem tais injúrias (32%), quando polinizadas naturalmente.
