Lupinus polyphyllus remains vegetative during the first year, stores cold during winter and is induced to blossoming in the second year. Inflorescences are attractive and varied coloured terminal clusters. In Buenos Aires the historical average winter temperature is 11.5 ºC and the number of hours of cold are not enough for L. polyphyllus to flower so there is no commercial offer in pots. The line of work chosen to produce genetic variability in L. polyphyllus, was induced mutagenesis with the purpose of rescuing genetic variants that meet the required cold naturally in Buenos Aires and capable of flowering and producing viable seeds. Petunia x hybrida, a floral summer of a economical importance in Buenos Aires, is nowadays produced with imported seed. The research presented is focused on the study of the feasibility to obtain locally competitive seed. The length of the floral pipe is a relevant character so the assay was designed in order to estimate the heredability, the number of genes intervener and the interactions with the date. The assay began with a F1 purchased from United States. In 2003, the F1 and F2 were sowed,739 individuals of F2 were placed in pots in three dates: 12/6, 26/6 and 8/7/2003 that were considered as blocks I, II and III respectively in a completely randomized design. Efecto del fotoperiodo sobre la calidad comercial de plantas de Althaea rosea obtenidas a partir de germoplasma elite Agriscientia (Córdoba)

Althaea rosea L. tiene escasa difusión en Buenos Aires a pesar de su valor decorativo. Partiendo de semillas de plantas asilvestradas y después de tres ciclos de selección, se logró germoplasma con buen comportamiento en macetas. Con la finalidad de difundir A. rosea, se encaró un ensayo en macetas cuyo objetivo fue estimar el efecto del fotoperíodo sobre la calidad comercial del germoplasma elite obtenido. Las plantas que recibieron 16 h de luz mostraron menor número de días hasta la aparición del primer pimpollo que aquellas que recibieron luz natural.
