Diopsis (Diopsidae, Diptera) with unusual wing spots: two new species from Malawi with a longer eye span in females than in males Naturalis
Feijen, H.R.; Feijen, C..
Diopsis malawiensis spec. nov. and D. vanbruggeni spec. nov. are described from Malawi. Subgeneric grouping of Diopsis Linnaeus, 1775, is briefly discussed, but the genus awaits revision. A redescription is given of Diopsis micronotata Brunett i, 1926, from the D.R. of Congo, as this species might be confused with D. vanbruggeni. The two new species and D. micronotata are closely related and are tentatively placed in the absens Brunett i group. Diopsis surcoufi Séguy, 1955, from Mozambique and Tanzania, is redescribed because of its superficial resemblance to D. malawiensis. All four species are characterised by tiny, but distinct, apical or subapical wing spots. In D. malawiensis, D. micronotata and D. vanbruggeni, eye span is, in absolute and relative...

On the biogeographic range of the genus Teleopsis Rondani (Diptera: Diopsidae), with redescription of Teleopsis sykesii from India and description of a new species from Borneo Naturalis
Feijen, H.R.; Feijen, C..
The genotype of the genus Teleopsis Rondani, T. sykesii (Westwood) from India is redescribed: Teleopsis onopyxus Séguy is now considered a junior synonym of T. sykesii. T. onopyxus was described from Madagascar, but this type locality must be due to mislabelling. T. sykesii occurs in India and perhaps in Myanmar. Lectotypes are designated for T. sykesii and T. onopyxus. From Sarawak and Sabah, Teleopsis pallifacies spec. nov. is described. Among its type series of more than 200 specimens, single flies occurred with labels from Australia and Irian Jaya. These are also considered to be mislabelled. Teleopsis now becomes a purely Oriental genus with no representatives in the Australasian or Malagasy regions. For T. sykesii and T. pallifacies spec. nov., data...

Systematics and phylogeny of Centrioncidae, a new afromontane family of Diptera (Schizophora) Naturalis
Feijen, H.R..
Arguments are put forward for the erection of a new family of Diptera, named Centrioncidae. Centrioncus prodiopsis, its only previously described representative, was originally placed in the Sepsidae and later transferred to the Diopsidae. This species is now redescribed and five more Centrioncus are added. For 15 new Centrioncidae species occurring south of the Zambesi the genus Teloglabrus is created. A key to the species is given. Centrioncidae only occur in Afromontane forests and all species have very limited, allopatric distributions. They are now known to occur in Ivory Coast, Sudan, Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Zaire, Malawi, Zimbabwe, Mozambique, Swaziland and South Africa. A review of the Centrioncus literature is given. The morphology, especially of...

Eosiopsis nom. nov., a replacement name for the preoccupied Sinodiopsis Feijen, 1989 (Diptera: Diopsidae) Naturalis
Feijen, H.R..
The genus Eosiopsis (Diptera, Diopsidae) is proposed as replacement name for Sinodiopsis Feijen, 1989. Sinodiopsis Yang & Chen, 1996, is indicated to be a synonym of Sinodiopsis Feijen, 1989. A catalogue is given for the included species.

Diopsis Nigrasplendens, a new species of Diopsidae (Diptera) Naturalis
Feijen, H.R..
Diopsis nigrasplendens spec. nov. is described from the Drakensberg, South Africa. The black Diopsis species are divided into groups and some earlier established synonymies are rejected. D. nigrasplendens takes an isolated position in its genus, but is probably related to both the gnugroup and the carbonaria-group.

The genus Teleopsis Rondani (Diptera, Diopsidae): discussion of its taxonomic position and revision of the species occurring in the Philippines Naturalis
Feijen, H.R..
Generic issues around Teleopsis are discussed: it is proposed to maintain the genera Teleopsis Rondani, 1875 s.s., Megalabops Frey, 1928 and Cyrtodiopsis Frey, 1928 s.s. Four Teleopsis Rondani species are described from the Philippines: T. cobiae spec. nov., T. freyi spec. nov., T. nitidifacies spec. nov. and T. nitidiscutum spec. nov. Five Teleopsis species from the Philippines are redescribed: T. boettcheri Frey, 1928, T. motatrix Osten Sacken, 1882, T. pharao Frey, 1928, T. selecta Osten Sacken, 1882, and T. shillitoi Tenorio, 1969. For T. boettcheri and T. motatrix lectotypes are designated and for T. pharao a neotype. Four other Teleopsis were, based on misidentifications, previously recorded for the Philippines: T. belzebuth (Bigot, 1874), T....
