Remarks on species of Phoma referred to Peyronellaea—III Naturalis
Boerema, G.H.; Dorenbosch, M.M.J.; Kesteren, H.A. van.
Additional data are given on synonymy and hosts. The ubiquitous species commonly known as Phoma prunicola (Opiz) Wollenw. & Hochapf., a later homonym of Phoma prunicola Schw., is renamed Phoma pomorum Thüm. Phoma indianensis (Deshpande & Mantri) Boerema & al. appears to be conspecific with Phoma glumarum Ell. & Tracy described earlier; its occurrence on rice seed is widespread.

Nomenclatural notes on some species of Phoma sect. Plenodomus Naturalis
Boerema, G.H.; Kesteren, H.A. van.
This paper deals with the synonymy of five species of Phoma formerly referred to Plenodomus: Phoma astragalina (Gonz.-Frag.) comb. nov., Phoma petrakii nom. nov., Phoma pezizoides (Ell. & Ev.) comb. nov., Phoma ruttneri (Petr.) comb. nov. and Phoma sclerotioides (Preuss) ex Sacc. (in phytopath. literature well known as Plenodomus meliloti Dearness & Sanford). Further a review is given of the synonymy of previously treated species of Phoma sect. Plenodomus.

Remarks on species of Phoma referred to Peyronellaea—II Naturalis
Boerema, G.H.; Dorenbosch, M.M.J.; Kesteren, H.A. van.
Additional data are given on Phoma glomerata (Cda.) Wr. & Hochapf., Phoma prunicola (Opiz) Wr. & Hochapf., and Phoma jolyana Pirozynski & Morgan-Jones. The new combination Phoma indianensis (Deshpande & Mantri) is proposed and its characteristics and habitat are discussed.

Some pycnidial fungi occurring on Atriplex and Chenopodium Naturalis
Aa, H.A. van der; Kesteren, H.A. van.
A number of pycnidial fungi described from Atriplex and Chenopodium, in Europe, North- and South-America are brought into synonymy with Phoma variospora nom. nov., Phoma dimorphospora (Speg.) comb. nov. and Ascochyta caulina (P. Karst.) comb. nov. Descriptions of these species in vivo and in vitro are given and the differentiating characters are discussed. A. caulina represents the type species of Chaetodiplodia P. Karst., which genus is reduced to the level of a section of Ascochyta Lib.

Remarks on species of Phoma referred to Peyronellaea—IV Naturalis
Boerema, G.H.; Dorenbosch, M.M.J.; Kesteren, H.A. van.
The new combination Cheiromycella chomatospora (Corda) is proposed for the species described by Corda as Coniothecium chomatosporum, a name later often misapplied. The new combination Phoma sorghina (Sacc.) is introduced for the species discussed in a former paper under the misapplied name Phoma glumarum Ell. & Tracy.

Studies in plant pathogenic fungi—I. Gnomonia radicicola, spec. nov., a new pathogen of roses Naturalis
Noordeloos, M.E.; Kesteren, H.A. van; Veenbaas-Rijks, Johanna W..
A new species of Gnomonia is described causing wilt of roses grown as cut-flowers in greenhouses on artificial substrate. Its main characters are relatively large perithecia with an extremely long beak and narrow, fusoid spores without appendages.

The nomenclature of two fungi parasitizing Brassica Naturalis
Boerema, G.H.; Kesteren, H.A. van.
The nomenclature of the perfect and imperfect stages of Mycosphaerella brassicicola (Duby) Lind. and Leptosphaeria maculans (Desm.) Ces. & De Not. is discussed. The imperfect stages of these two parasites of Brassica spp. are often confused. Mycosphaerella brassicicola has a spermagonial stage with the characters of the form-genus Asteromella Pass. & Thüm. In phytopathological literature it is incorrectly known as a Phyllosticta species: P. brassicicola McAlp. A new combination for this stage is proposed: Asteromella brassicae (Chev.) Boerema & van Kesteren. The pycnidial stage of L. maculans is known in phytopathological literature as Phoma lingam (Tode ex Fr.) Desm. Its characters, however, are quite different from those of the type-species...

Phoma heteromorphospora nom. nov Naturalis
Aa, H.A. van der; Kesteren, H.A. van.
Van der Aa & van Kesteren (1979) redescribed a Phoma species commonly occurring on species of Chenopodium in Europe, as Phoma variospora v. d. Aa & v. Kest. After the appearance of this publication, in November 1979, descriptions of some new species of Phoma came to their attention amongst which was also Phoma variospora Shreemali (1978, issued in July 1979) based on a different fungus. According to the rules of priority Phoma variospora v. d. Aa & v. Kest. has to be renamed. The following name change is proposed: Phoma heteromorphospora v. d. Aa & v. Kest., nom. nov. Phyllosticta chenopodii Westend. in Bull. Acad. r. Belg. Cl. Sci. 11. 2: 567. 1857. Phoma variospora v. d. Aa & v. Kest. in Persoonia 10: 268. 1979. — non Phoma variospora...

Remarks on species of Phoma referred to Peryonellaea Naturalis
Boerema, G.H.; Dorenbosch, M.M.J.; Kesteren, H.A. van.
The authors conclude that the separation of the form-genus Peyronellaea Goid. ex Togliani from Phoma Sacc. is both undesirable and unpracticable. A comparative study of the data in the literature, of original cultures, and of herbarium material of the fungi ascribed to Peyronellaea, leads to the distinction of three species: Phoma glomerata (Cda.) Wr. & Hochapf., Phoma prunicola (Opiz) Wr. & Hochapf., and Phoma musae (Joly) comb. nov. The synonymy and characteristics of these species are discussed and a key is given.

Contributions towards a monograph of Phoma (Coelomycetes) — III. 1. Section Plenodomus: Taxa often with a Leptosphaeria teleomorph Naturalis
Boerema, G.H.; Gruyter, J. de; Kesteren, H.A. van.
Twenty-six species of Phoma, characterized by the ability to produce scleroplectenchymatous pycnidia (and often also pseudothecia) are documented and described. An addendum deals with five atypical species, but which on account of literature data may be related. The following new taxa are proposed: Phoma acuta subsp. errabunda (Desm.) comb. nov. (teleomorph Leptosphaeria doliolum subsp. errabunda subsp. nov.), Phoma acuta subsp. acuta f. sp. phlogis (Roum.) comb. nov., Phoma congesta spec. nov. and Phoma vasinfecta spec. nov. Detailed keys and indices on host-fungus and fungus-host relations are provided and short comments on the ecology and distribution of the taxa are given.
