Poucas cultivares de coentro (Coriandrum sativum L.) estão disponíveis aos produtores e, em algumas regiões, cultivam-se genótipos de origem desconhecida, mantidos pelos próprios hortelãos. Para conservar as cultivares tradicionais é necessário não só coletá-las e conservá-las, mas também caracterizá-las. Dessa forma, este trabalho teve por objetivo determinar caracteres morfológicos para diferenciar genótipos de coentro no processo de registro de cultivares. Foram realizados dois experimentos, ambos em blocos casualizados, com cinco repetições. Grande número de produtores envolve-se com o cultivo do coentro durante todo o ano, tornando a cultura importante social e economicamente. Praticamente em toda a região Nordeste utiliza-se a cultivar Verdão. Estudos da variabilidade genética do coentro são importantes, tendo em vista o melhor planejamento de programas de melhoramento genético. Desta forma, este trabalho teve como objetivo quantificar a variabilidade genética de características agronômicas do coentro cultivar Verdão, avaliando-se progênies de meios-irmãos potencialmente úteis no melhoramento genético. With the development of new cultivars, a precise genetic characterization is essential for improvement programs or for cultivar registration and protection. Molecular markers have been complementing the traditional morphological and agronomic characterization techniques because they are virtually unlimited, cover the whole genome and are not environmentally influenced. ABSTRACT The aim of this study was to estimate the genetic divergence among eggplant genotypes for agronomic traits in order to gather information for the selection of genotypes in eggplant breeding programs for tolerance to high temperatures. Ten traits recommended by the International Board for Plant Genetic Resources were analyzed in 24 genotypes, arranged in a randomized complete block design with four replicates. In Brazil, the cowpea [Vigna unguiculata (L.) Walp], is important in the Northeast Region, where it is typically grown on family farms. The importance of the damage caused to the seed quality of this species by stored pests has been described in various studies. Using X-ray, it is possible to see the internal seed structures and identify possible changes and damage. The objective of this study was to identify the damage caused by the weevil [Callosobruchus maculatus (Fabr.)] by analyzing X-ray and evaluate its relationship to the physiological quality of the cowpea seed. ABSTRACT The objective of this work was to estimate the combinatorial capacity and heterosis of eggplant hybrids under high temperature conditions. Seven genitors, twelve hybrid combinations, originated from a partial diallel, and the Ciça F1 hybrid, as control, were evaluated.
