Cross-amplification of microsatellites from the Atherinopsidae Odontesthes perugiae and Odontesthes argentinensis to Chilean silversides of the genus Odontesthes and Basilichthys Gayana
Muñoz,Pablo; Quezada-Romegialli,Claudio; Vila,Irma; Véliz,David.
We tested the amplification potential of 8 microsatellites initially described for Odontesthes perugiae and O. argentinensis in 3 species of Odontesthes and 4 species of Basilichthys. Most of the microsatellites amplified and showed polymorphism; thus they will be useful in genetic conservation plans for these species.

Analysis of the Condyle, Articular Fossa and Mandibular Ramus in Subjects with Active Condylar Hyperplasia International Journal of Morphology
Muñoz,Pablo; Goulart,Douglas Rangel; Olate,Sergio; de Moraes,Márcio; Navarro,Pablo; Fariña,Rodrigo.
Facial asymmetry is relatively common, but it becomes a disease when condylar hyperplasia is involved. The purpose of this investigation was to describe and compare the morphological characteristics of hyperplastic condyles to their non-hyperplastic contralateral side. Fifteen subjects aged between 14 and 29 years with facial asymmetry and diagnosed with unilateral condylar hyperplasia were studied using cone-beam computerized tomography. Linear measurements were taken of the condylar morphology on the sagittal and coronal planes, establishing the size of the articular fossa, mandibular ramus, and other aspects. Sagittal condylar measurements showed significant differences (p=0.028) between the groups (hyperplastic side v/s non-hyperplastic side); ramus...

Prenatal Stress Caused by Movement Restriction Induces Changes in the Appendicular Osseous Development of CF-1 Mice Progeny International Journal of Morphology
Lizana,Pablo; Henríquez,Ricardo; Muñoz,Pablo.
Prenatal stress has been associatedwith alterationsin weight andbody size, as well as disturbances inthe process ofdevelopingskeletalossification, occurringduring childbirth and the early stagesof life. However, theeffectevidence of prenatal stresson bone growthand development duringthe gestation periodhas been low; therefore, it is unknown whether these alterations are associated with potential for growth disorders Because of this, thestudy aims todetermine theshort-term effectsof prenatal stress onthe CF-1mouse bone structure growth inyour date of birth. The female mice were divided randomly in two groups: controlled (n=2) and stressed (n=3). The latter was put under stress by means of movement restriction during the last week of gestation. Second, an...
