Última Anoectochilus narasimhanii (Orchidaceae), a new ‘jewel orchid’ from the Andaman Islands, India Naturalis Sumathi, R.; Jayanthi, J.; Karthigeyan, K.; Sreekumar, P.V.. A new species, Anoectochilus narasimhanii, allied to A. nicobaricus N.P. Balakr. & Chakr. from Saddle Peak National Park in North Andamans is described and illustrated. It is the first record of the genus from the Andamans. It grows on humus rich soil, in the shade of stunted evergreen vegetation at an elevation of ± 650 m. Leaves linear-lanceolate, 2—10 by 0.4—0.6 cm, shortly acuminate, narrowed and tapering at the base, sparsely villous with tubercle-based hairs. A new species, Ceropegia andamanica, allied to C. metziana Miq., from the Mount Harriet National Park in South Andaman is described and illustrated. It is the first record of the genus Ceropegia from the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, and it is currently known from a few scattered patches on just one island in areas which have been cleared of their native vegetation.
