Farmers' knowledge regarding organic vegetables cultivation in northeast Thailand Thai Agricultural

The study was conducted to determine farmers’ knowledge on organic vegetables cultivation. The study also attempted to describe some selected characteristics of organic vegetables cultivation and explore the relationships with knowledge on organic vegetables cultivation. A survey method of face-to-face interview using semi structured questionnaire was used to collect data from organic vegetable growers in Samsung, Khon Kaen, and Northeast Thailand which was selected by using simple random sampling method. Data were collected by semi structured interview schedule from 51 randomly selected households. The objective of this study is to investigate the importance of community labor for intensive Chinese radish production. Data was collected by questionnaire distributed to 36 farmers from a total of 60 farmers’ household in the community. The results showed that the farmers in Nong-Ngong village, Baan-Had district, Khon Kaen province have been in the continued practice for more than 30 years using mainly household and community labor. On average, the household labor was two persons where during the high labor requirement period, the farmers would exchange and share labor these between households in the community that similar to the past. Effects of an organic vegetable production on on-farm and off-farm income: A case study of farmer group in Nong Saeng village, Northeastern Thailand Thai Agricultural

Twenty six households in Nong Saeng village, Khon Kaen province in Northeast Thailand (NET) participated in an informal education program and formed a farmers’ group in a project called Organic Vegetable Production for Self Reliance (OVPSR). Twenty out of the 26 households, 2 group leaders and an extension officer working in the village participated in semi-structured interviews (SSI) regarding project activities and its impact on the household incomes. On the average, 20 farmers received only 36.8% of their income from on-farm production, whereas off farm activities contributed 59.6% of their income.
