Performance analysis of a trickle irrigation subunit installed in an apple orchard BABT
Soccol,Olívio José; Ullmann,Mario Nestor; Frizzone,José Antônio.
Studies were carried out to evaluate the "xique-xique" irrigation system of a trickle irrigated subunit. Initial results showed that the system's performance was average, any Emission Uniformity, Statistical Uniformity and Coefficient of Global Variation were 74.51, 77.69, and 22.31%, respectively. The efficiency parameters were below expectations, and values of Application Efficiency (Ae), Storage Efficiency (Se), Deep Percolation (Dp), Deficit Degree (DD) and Adequacy Degree (a) were 100, 47.83, 0, 52.17 and 0% respectively. By adopting new management procedures, it was possible to improve the system's efficiency, reaching values of 90.20, 91.68, 9.80, 8.32 and 52.87% for Ae, Se, Dp, DD and "a", respectively.

Evaluation of hydrocyclone as pre-filter in irrigation system BABT
Soccol,Olívio José; Rodrigues,Lineu Neiva; Botrel,Tarlei Arriel; Ullmann,Mario Nestor.
The objective of this work was to evaluate the efficiency of a hydrocyclone to separate sand in irrigation water. To do this, it an experiment was conducted where the hydrocyclone was operated with pressures and discharge that varied from 10 to 60 kPa and from 1,159.90 L h-1 to 2,603.60 L h-1, respectively. During the tests, the sand concentration in suspension varied from 2.81 g L-1 to 7.01 g L-1. The results showed that the best efficiency was obtained with pressure differentials of 10 and 30 kPa, with cut size (d70) of 50 µm.

Wind power characterization in the Lages city - SC, Brazil BABT
Soccol,Olívio José; Zitterell,Danieli Bariviera; Ullmann,Mario Nestor; Miquelluti,David José.
The main objective of this work was to determinate the nominal wind and the wind power, based on mathematical adjustments in the Lages city, SC-Brazil. The study used data comprising the period between 1976 and 2006. The wind average velocity was osted by Lages Meteorological Station located at 27º49'S, 50º12' W, and 937 meters of altitude. For the estimated wind temporal distribution, a methodology based on wind velocity curves was used. The nominal velocity that made wind power maximum in Lages was 10.33 km h-1 77 days long. This velocity provides an average wind power 16.6 W m-2 annually. The results showed that wind power cow be characterized as a simple alternative to be used in agriculture.
