Gall midge is one of the most important insect pest of rice in Thailand. The lavae caused severe crop damage during the vegetative stages (seedling to panicle initiative) by producing tube-like called “silver shoot” or “onion leaf” that prevent panicle production. Thus, understanding the economic threshold level is an important prerequisite for determining control measure. This study was conducted to estimate percentage of damage and yield loss by gall midge infestation. The popular rice gall midge resistant and susceptible varieties were used to study the number of gall midge infested that can be reached to economic threshold level. The experimental design was split-split plot in RCB having rice variety as main plot (resistant varieties: RD53, MN 62 M,... |
