“Buer Ner Moo” a rain phase aromatic Highland rice variety, was planted on rice terrace that a hilltribe who called themselves Pwakin-nyaw (Kariang) was the owner. The rice name was Pwakin-nyaw’s language that means “Aromatic rice” same as its physical characteristic. Buer Ner Moo was a land race rice variety, which have been bred by Pwakinnyaw farmer selection. It was kept from generation to next generation until now. Therefore, it still closely related to Pwakin-nyaw’s community. If it was developed to pure variety and to Geographical Indications (GI), that was the way to increase its value.
