Constraints of organic vegetable production in northeast Thailand Thai Agricultural

The objective of the study was to assess the constraints affecting towards organic vegetable production (OVP) in Ban Swang and Ban Sam Hong villages, Sam Sung district, Khon Kaen province, Northeast Thailand. Simple random sampling technique was done in this experiment A survey method through face-to-face interview by using semi structured questionnaire which was used to collect data from 51 vegetable growers. The findings of the study showed that the percentage of respondents considering facing problems at different levels constraints were 61% low, 35% medium and 4% high level. The brown planthopper (BPH), Nilaparvata lugens (Stål), is one of the most serious insect pest of irrigated rice in the central and lower areas of Northern Thailand. In upper North of Thailand, the first and serious outbreak was found during year 2011 and 2012. The misused insecticide over a period of time with extensive and intensive application is causing BPH outbreak. Therefore, the goal of this research was to monitor the insecticide resistance of BPH in the Northern, Thailand. Colored rice or pigmented rice refers to the color of rice kernel such as black, purple and red which is form by deposits of anthocyanin in different layers of the pericarp, seedcoat and aluerone layers. This experiment was to evaluate nutritional values (anthocyanin, iron and zinc) of rice grain among local colored rice varieties. Variation among varieties for anthocyanin, iron and zinc concentrations were found in brown rice, white rice and bran. Significant amount of anthocyanin concentration was found in black color rice, whereas very low concentration was found in red and brown color rice.
