Lonchaeidae (Díptera: Tephritoidea) asociados al género Annona. Colegio de Postgraduados
Illescas Riquelme, Carlos Patricio.

Palikur traditional roundwood construction in eastern French Guiana: ethnobotanical and cultural perspectives ArchiMer
Ogeron, Clemence; Odonne, Guillaume; Cristinoi, Antonia; Engel, Julien; Grenand, Pierre; Beauchene, Jacques; Clair, Bruno; Davy, Damien.
Background: Palikur Amerindians live in the eastern part of French Guiana which is undergoing deep-seated changes due to the geographical and economic opening of the region. So far, Palikur's traditional ecological knowledge is poorly documented, apart from medicinal plants. The aim of this study was to document ethnobotanical practices related to traditional construction in the region. Methods: A combination of qualitative and quantitative methods was used. Thirty-nine Palikur men were interviewed in three localities (Saint-Georges de l'Oyapock, Regina and Trois-Paletuviers) between December 2013 and July 2014. Twenty-four inventories of wood species used in traditional buildings were conducted in the villages, as well as ethnobotanical walks in the...

Three new rarely collected or endangered species of Annonaceae from Venezuela Naturalis
Chatrou, L.W.; Pirie, M.D..
Three new species of Annonaceae from Venezuela are described here: Cremastosperma venezuelanum Pirie, Klarobelia subglobosa Chatrou, and Pseudomalmea wingfieldii Chatrou. All three are represented by few collections (in comparison to those of other Neotropical species of Annonaceae). Klarobelia subglobosa and P. wingfieldii in particular are only known from a few individual specimens collected in areas vulnerable to habitat destruction. IUCN threat categories are assigned to these species.

Additions to Orophea subgenus Sphaerocarpon (Annonaceae): revision and transfer of Mezzettiopsis Naturalis
Leonardía, A.A.P.; Keßler, P.J.A..
The genus Mezzettiopsis Ridl. (Annonaceae) is revised and transferred to Orophea Blume subgenus Sphaerocarpon Keßler. Phylogenetic analysis of subgenus Sphaerocarpon and Mezzettiopsis places Mezzettiopsis within the subgenus. Furthermore, the prevalence of common or overlapping character states and the paucity of unique character states necessitate the transfer. Two species were transferred from Mezzettiopsis. Of these, one species of Orophea is reinstated and one new combination is made. Three species are described as new. In total, nine species are fully described. Sphaerocarpon is a subgenus of small, tropical, lowland trees distributed from Sulawesi westwards to South India. It is characterised by having sepals and outer petals that are sessile or...

A taxonomic survey of Guatteria section Mecocarpus including the genera Guatteriopsis and Guatteriella p.p. (Annonaceae) Naturalis
Maas, P.J.M.; Westra, L.Y.Th..
This paper deals with a group of species of the Neotropical genus Guatteria (Annonaceae) which are characterized by leaves with tiny warts (verruculae) on both surfaces and by elongate and short-stipitate monocarps (i.e., the length of the monocarp body surpassing the length of the stipe). These species were placed by Fries in Guatteria sect. Mecocarpus (Fries 1939) (the name derives from Ancient Greek μηκων = Poppy and καρπος = fruit: fruit resembling that of Papaver species). All occur in South America, none having been found elsewhere so far. Although there is much doubt nowadays about the taxonomic significance of Fries’s sections, we maintain sect. Mecocarpus at present for convenience’s sake. Additionally, the former genus Guatteriopsis, united with...

Reviews Naturalis
Adema, Frits; Prud’homme van Reine, Willem F.; Welzen, Peter van.
A large amount of unidentified material of the Neotropical genus Guatteria (Annonaceae) is lying on herbarium shelves around the world. Here twelve species are described in an attempt to reduce this amount of unidentified material. Next to this, previously unidentified material is now assigned to G. asplundiana, G. microcarpa, G. pastazae, and G. scalarinervia, four previously described but poorly known species, thus providing a clearer circumscription of these species. Furthermore, G. discolor and G. megalophylla appear to have a wider distribution than previously thought. Lastly, G. macrantha, a curious species only known from the type, is excluded from the genus and referred to Uvaria. With the description of twelve new species and the synonymizing of...
