Atrazina é um dos herbicidas mais utilizados no mundo, apresentando relativa persistência em zonas saturadas e insaturadas. A principal via de dissipação de atrazina inclui a biodegradação. Solos coletados no município de Guaíra, SP, provenientes de áreas de mata, e solos sob cultivo intensivo, sob irrigação, com histórico de aplicação de atrazina, foram suplementados e incubados com o herbicida nas seguintes concentrações:70 microgramas g-1, 350 microgramas g-1 700 microgramas g-1. Différents travaux menés depuis 1984 chez l'huître creuse en particulier, montrent qu'i existe, dans les branchies (Thiriot-Quiévreux C., 1982), une certaine proportion de cellules possédant un nombre de chromosomes inférieur au nombre habituel 2N=20. Ce phénomène est l'aneuploïdie. Cette anomalie cytogénétique est mise en évidence par un comptage de chromosomes d'une suspension cellulaire obtenue à partir de branchies. In the Pacific oyster, Crassostrea gigas hypodiploid aneuploid cells with 2n=19, 18 or 17 chromosomes have regularly been reported. There is a negative correlation between somatic aneuploidy and growth rate in oysters (Leitão et al., 2001a) as well as evidence for a genetic basis (Leitão et al., 2001b). Furthermore, non-random chromosome loss has been demonstrated in aneuploid karyotypes of C. gigas using the G-banding technique (Leitão et al., 2001c). Aneuploidy has previously been observed in the Pacific oyster, Crassostrea gigas, and shown to be negatively correlated with growth. Moreover, a significant impact of atrazine exposure has been described in C. gigas, and persistence of that effect has been observed between generations. Evidence of differential chromosome loss has been demonstrated in aneuploid karyotypes of C. gigas using the G-banding technique. Pairs 1, 5, 9, and 10 are characterized by the loss of 1 chromosome. Divers travaux menés depuis 1984 montrent qu'il existe, chez l'huître creuse Crassostrea gigas, des cellules montrant un nombre anormal de chromosomes (2n = 19, 18 ou même 17 au lieu de 2n = 20). Le niveau d'aneuploïdie est déterminé par le décompte des chromosomes à partir de suspensions cellulaires de tissu branchial. Le pourcentage de cellules aneuploïdes est toujours significativement supérieur dans les "lots de queue", c'est-à-dire les huîtres présentant des croissances plus faibles, et peut atteindre plus de 30 %. Le bassin de Marennes-Oléron, milieu fortement anthropisé, souffre d'une diminution générale du taux de croissance des huîtres creuses, Crassostrea gigas. Si les fortes densités existants dans le bassin sont grandement responsables de ce phénomène, d'autres facteurs environnementaux peuvent intervenir. Nous nous sommes intéressés à un caractère corrélé négativement à la croissance, le taux d'aneuploïdie. Il s'agit d'un phénomène cytogénétique ayant pour conséquence la perte ou le gain de chromosomes. La conchyliculture et notamment l'ostréiculture se sont beaucoup développées en France dans les dernières décennies. Le bassin de Marennes-Oléron (Charente-Maritime) est le premier bassin français producteur d'huîtres. Mais cette zone est également soumise à de nombreuses pollution récurrentes, apportées principalement par la Charente. La recrudescence de l'utilisation d'herbicides en agriculture tels que l'atrazine implique le transfert vers le milieu aquatique de nouveaux polluants dans les zones d'estuaires.
