Som resultat af projekterne kan drages følgende hovedkonklusioner om kompostering af fæces fra mennesker: Fæces fra de undersøgte typer af kompostbeholdere bør ikke anvendes til jordbrugsformål uden viderebehandling, da dette skønnes at være behæftet med hygiejne- og sundhedsrisici. Det skyldes, at der ikke blev dokumenteret egentlige termofile temperaturstigninger i fæcesmaterialet i komposttoiletenhederne i Hjortshøj, Dyssekilde og Sverige, samt at fækale indikatorbakteriers antal varierede voldsomt, og der ingen entydig tendens var til forekomst af lavere kimtal ved lange opbevaringstider af de opsamlede fækalier. |

Syftet är att undersöka hur mycket överskottet och förlusterna av kväve och fosfor kan minska i jordbruket genom lokal och regional anpassning av växtodling och djurhållning i enlighet med principerna för kretsloppsbaserad ekologisk odling. Studien genomförs på utvalda ekologiska typgårdar med till den egna foderproduktionen anpassad djurhållning i för landet representativa avvattningsområden. Resultaten från balansräkningar och mätning av växtnäringsförluster ligger till grund för jämförelser med dagens jordbruk och förslag till sådana förändringar av jordbrukets struktur som kan leda till minst en halvering av förlusterna. Das Projekt „Entwicklung und Erprobung eines Agroforstsystems im ökologischen Landbau zur Energieholzgewinnung“ ist eine Kooperation der beiden bayerischen Landesanstalten für Landwirtschaft (LfL) und für Wald und Forstwirtschaft (LWF). Die Versuchsstandorte liegen in der nördlichen Münchener Ebene bei Freising und im südlichen Frankenjura in der Nähe von Kaisheim. Die zentrale Frage des Projektes ist, welche Erträge und Qualitäten die landwirtschaftlichen Feldfrüchte in einem Agroforstsystem im Vergleich zur herkömmlichen Bewirtschaftung ohne Bäume auf dem Acker liefern. Maize (Zea mays L.) is a major staple food in Sub-Saharan Africa but low soil fertility, limited resources and droughts keep yields low. Cultivation of maize intercropped with pigeonpea (Cajanus cajan L. Millsp.) is common in some areas of eastern and southern Africa. The objectives of this study were (1) to investigate dry matter, nitrogen (N) and phosphorus (P) accumulation in different plant components of maize-pigeonpea intercropping systems and (2) to report the effects of the intercrops on soil fertility. Searching for livestock production systems with a high energy utilization is of interest because of resource use and pollution aspects and because energy use is an indicator of the intensification of production processes. Due to interactions between crop and livestock enterprises and between levels of different input factors and their effects on yields, it is proposed to analyze agricultural energy utilization through system modelling of data from farm studies. On five long-term organic dairy farms aiming at self-sufficiency with nutrients, soil concentrations of ammonium-acetate lactate extractable potassium (K-AL) and acid-soluble K was measured twice in topsoil (0-20 cm) and subsoil (20-40 cm) over periods of 6-14 years. Organic management had occurred for >9 years at the second sampling. On average there were most probably field level K-deficits. Even so, topsoil K-AL concentrations were medium high (65-155 mg K kg–1 soil), and did not decrease during the study period. Die Auswirkungen der Biogaserzeugung auf den gesamten ökologisch bewirtschafteten Betrieb sind bisher noch wenig untersucht. Durch dieses Fachgespräch sollen Praxiserfahrungen und Forschungsergebnisse zur Biogaserzeugung zusammengetragen werden. An der Diskussion werden sowohl Praktiker und Wissenschaftler als auch Administration und technische Entwicklung beteiligt sein. Ziel ist es, Regelungslücken zu schließen und für die Praxis Handlungsempfehlungen auszusprechen. Aus den verbleibenden offenen Fragen wird zukünftiger Forschungsbedarf abgeleitet. Die Ergebnisse des Fachgespräches werden für die Praxis aufbereitet und stehen als Handlungsempfehlung zur Verfügung. |

The experiments show that composting of GM plant residues greatly increases the rate of degradation of transgenic DNA compared to the rate for plant residues left in the soil. If the persistence of transgenic DNA in the environments is considered as the only risk factor, composting is a 'DNA-safe' method to treat GM plant residues. However, even though transgenic plant DNA was not detected in bacterial isolates in our experiments, we cannot conclude that horizontal gene transfer can not take place. The 300 isolates tested proved to be too low a number to be conclusive.
