Comparison between sulfates and chelated compounds as sources of zinc and iron in calcareous soils Agrociencia
Ortega-Blu,Rodrigo; Molina-Roco,Mauricio.
Abstract: Pot experiments were performed in a greenhouse to compare zinc (Zn) and iron (Fe) sources: 1) corn plants were grown in a Zn-deficient soil and received a Zn fertilization (0, 1.9, 3.8, and 7.7 mg kg-1; equivalent to 0, 5, 10, and 20 kg Zn ha-1) as ZnEDTA and ZnSO4; 2) sorghum plants were grown in a soil where iron chlorosis symptoms had been observed and received a Fe fertilization (0, 1.5, 3, and 6 mg kg-1; equivalent to 0, 3, 6, and 12 kg Fe ha-1) as Fe-EDDHA and FeSO4. Corn dry matter (DM), Zn concentration, and Zn uptake were higher with Zn-EDTA as compared to ZnSO4. In the sorghum experiment the highest DM production was obtained with Fe-EDDHA, which increased Fe concentration and uptake in higher proportion as compared to FeSO4. However,...

Germination of fungal pathogen spores in calcium, copper, manganese and zinc chelated with aminoacids Rev. Ciênc. Agron.
Lorenzetti,Eloisa; Tartaro,Juliano; Alves Neto,Alfredo José; Stangarlin,José Renato; Portz,Roberto Luis; Kuhn,Odair José.
ABSTRACT Due to the environmental impact generated using fungicides, new alternatives for disease control have been arising, such as the use of nutrients that may act on the development of certain pathogens or decrease the host susceptibility to diseases. The objective of this work was to verify if chelates of calcium, copper, manganese and zinc inhibit the germination of Puccinia sorghi, Cercospora sp. and Exserohilum turcicum spores. Two experiments were carried out: the first with agar-water culture medium, where the treatments and spores were placed at the same moment and the second using corn leaves as substrate, where treatments were administered zero, one, two, three, four and five hours after the spores are sprayed. Calcium, copper, manganese and...

Iron sources for citrus rootstock development grown on pine bark/vermiculite mixed substrate Scientia Agricola
Ferrarezi,Rhuanito Soranz; Bataglia,Ondino Cleante; Furlani,Pedro Roberto; Schammass,Eliana Aparecida.
For high technology seedling production systems, nutrition plays an important role, mainly the fertigation with iron chelates to prevent its deficiency. This study had the goal of searching for alternative iron sources with the same nutrient efficiency but lower cost in relation to nutrient solution total cost. An experiment was carried out in 56 cm³-conic-containers tilled with a pine bark/ vermiculite mixed substrate using Fe-DTPA, Fe-EDDHA, Fe-EDDHMA, Fe-EDTA, Fe-HEDTA, FeCl3, FeSO4, FeSO4+citric acid plus a control, and the rootstocks Swingle, Rangpur, Trifoliata and Cleopatra, in a randomized complete block design, with four replicates. Seedlings were evaluated for height, relative chlorophyll index, total and soluble iron leaf concentrations....
