Os machos de Anthonomus grandis produzem um feromônio de agregação, composto por quatro componentes de origem terpênica, que atrai a ambos os sexos. A colonização nos algodoais se inicia com o surgimento dos botões florais e emissão de compostos orgânicos voláteis pelas plantas, e se intensifica com o feromônio liberado pelos primeiros machos que chegam à lavoura. A produção feromonal de A. grandis é influenciada por vários fatores, dentre eles, a alimentação. Leptographium spp. are commonly associated with bark beetles and weevils (Coleoptera: Curculionidae), and some are important tree pathogens. In a recent survey of diseases and insect pests of conifer trees in Bhutan, the root collar weevil, Hylobitelus chenkupdorjii was found girdling young Himalayan blue pine (Pinus wallichiana) trees in Central Bhutan. Intensive wood staining and a Leptographium sp. were associated with damage by this insect. The fungus was also isolated from individuals of H. chenkupdorjii. Pachyrhinus lethierryi, a new species of weevil for the Dutch fauna (Coleoptera: Curculionidae) Pachyrhinus lethierryi is reported for the first time from the Netherlands. Many specimens were collected from Chamaecyparus x leylandii on several localities in the province of Zeeland. This weevil seems to be established in our country. Pachyrhinus lethierryi originates from the mediterranean area and is currently expanding its range in Europe. The succesful spread to the north is most likely faciliated by transport of its food plants to and from garden centres and nurseries rather than the effect of global warming.

The weevil genus Larinus in the Netherlands, with Larinus turbinatus as an addition to the Dutch fauna (Coleoptera: Curculionidae) Larinus turbinatus is reported for the Netherlands for the first time. The first record of this species is from 2004, when one specimen was swept from a chalk grassland in the very south of the Netherlands. Since then the species was discovered at several sites. O objetivo deste trabalho foi efetuar a diagnose de quatro espécies de curculionídeos-das-raízes que ocorrem nos citros, fornecer uma chave para identificação de 14 espécies, além de estudar sua ocorrência e distribuição na área citrícola dos estados de São Paulo e Minas Gerais. O objetivo deste trabalho foi estudar algumas características da fase de ovo de três espécies de curculionídeos-das-raízes dos citros. Os insetos foram coletados em citros em Itapetininga, SP, levados ao Laboratório de Biologia de Insetos da ESALQ/USP, em Piracicaba, SP, onde foram mantidas as espécies numericamente mais importantes: Naupactus cervinus (Boheman), Naupactus versatilis (Hustache) e Parapantomorus fluctuosus (Boheman). Odontopus brevirostris (Hustache, 1936) feeding on Annona squamosa L., A. cherimola Mill., A. glabra L., and A. muricata L. was observed. The last three host plants are recorded for the first time. The endophitic oviposition occurs in the veins of the ventral surface of the young leaves. The larvae, leaf miners, eat the parenchyma and the adults make small holes in the leaves. The pupation occurs in spherical cocoons protected by a sort of nest (pupation chamber) between the two epidermal layers.

A espécie Heilipus odoratus Vanin & Gaiger, 2005 (Coleoptera, Curculionidae, Molytinae) é considerada o principal inseto-praga de frutos de Pau-rosa (Aniba rosaeodora, Ducke, Lauraceae). Recentemente descrita, pouco se conhece sobre seus aspectos biológicos, tendo este trabalho como objetivo contribuir para o estudo comportamental da espécie, como também fornecer técnicas de sexagem de indivíduos adultos, a partir da estridulação. Este trabalho foi desenvolvido de junho de 2004 a maio de 2005, objetivando o reconhecimento de espécies de coleobrocas (Insecta: Coleoptera) que se encontram associadas a pomar comercial de manga (Mangifera indica) das variedades Tommy Atkins, Keitt, Kent e Palmer, no município de José de Freitas, Estado do Piauí. Foram instaladas duas armadilhas etanólicas modelo Carvalho 47 em cada área das referidas variedades e realizadas coletas semanais. As coleobrocas foram separadas dos resíduos vegetais, secas sob lâmpada e quantificadas. Posteriormente, exemplares de cada morfoespécie coletada foram identificados.
