Bertholletia excelsa Bonpl., também conhecida como castanheira-do-brasil, castanheira-do-pará e castanheira-da-amazônia, é uma árvore que ocorre naturalmente em grande parte da Amazônia. Entretanto, a presença de aflatoxinas B1, B2, G1 e G2 de Aspergillus spp. em amostras de castanha-do-brasil com casca e sem casca, em níveis superiores àqueles considerados seguros por países importadores, tem limitado as exportações desse produto, além de restringir o mercado interno. ABSTRACT Drying air temperature has direct influence on seed quality, especially for vegetable species harvested with high moisture content. This study aimed to determine and model the drying curves of ‘Cabacinha’ pepper seeds (Capsicum chinense L.) at different temperatures, and to evaluate their physiological quality after drying and during storage. The experimental design was completely randomized in a 3 x 3 factorial scheme, with three drying temperatures (35, 38 and 42 °C) and three storage periods (0, 4 and 8 months), with four replicates. Germinated paddy (GP) has higher active components and better textural property than brown rice. Germination time and drying temperature are very important parameter to GP quality since the microstructure of starch granules is modified during germination and this might affect the drying characteristics and the dried GP quality. Therefore, the objective of this work was to study the effect of germination time and drying temperature on the changes in the drying kinetics and qualities of GP. Effect of two drying processes about soybean seed quality CIGR Journal

This work studies the effects of two drying processes on quality soybean seed. This study comparing simultaneously the effects of two drying processes: the dry-aeration process and conventional drying process. Two drying temperatures (60 and 80°C) and two tempering times (30 and 120 min) were investigated. The seed quality variables analyzed were: break tegument and germinating power. Results show that both drying processes were negative effect on quality seed but dry-aeration process cause less damage. The dry-aeration process to less temperature and higher tempering time caused less damage that conventional drying process about germinating power and integrity integument of soybean seed. Cocoa (Theobroma cacao L.) is widely produced in West Africa and South America and is a great economic tree crop, with so many industrial uses. In this work, the experimental drying kinetics of foreign species was investigated, and the experiments were carried out under isothermal conditions, using heated batch drier at 55, 70 and 81 ºC. The moisture ratio data obtained from change of moisture content with the drying time was fit to two thin layer drying model with good results. A faster drying process was observed at a higher drying temperature resulting in higher drying rates which is advantageous when evaluating costs.
