Systemic resistance induction in ‘Ortanique’ tangor Rev. Bras. Frutic.
Kirinus,Marines Batalha Moreno; Silva,Pricila Santos da; Barreto,Caroline Farias; Oliveira,Roberto Pedroso de; Malgarim,Marcelo Barbosa.
Abstract This study aimed to evaluate the quality of ‘Ortanique’ tangor, in the post-harvest and refrigerated storage after application of pre-harvest resistance inducers, in the 2015 and 2016 crops. The experimental design in the field was in completely randomized blocks, in a single factorial scheme. The treatment factor was composed of the following resistance inducers [without inducer, selenium (Se), silicon (Si), acibenzolar-s-methyl (ASM), methyl jasmonate (MeJa), thiamethoxam (TMT) and imidacloprid (IMI)]. In the laboratory, the design used was the same as that established in the field, but in a two-factorial scheme, where factor A was composed of the same inducers and factor B, for the storage period [zero (fruits that were not submitted to...

Effect of extracts from citric biomass, rusted coffee leaves and coffee berry husks on Phoma costarricencis of coffee plants Trop. Plant Pathol.
Barguil,Beatriz M; Resende,Mário Lúcio V; Resende,Renata S; Beserra Júnior,J. Evando A.; Salgado,Sônia M. L.
Phoma leaf spot, caused by Phoma costarricensis poses a serious threat to coffee (Coffea arabica) production, especially in the highlands of the state of Minas Gerais, Brazil. Extracts of citric biomass, coffee berry husks and coffee leaves severely affected by rust caused by Hemileia vastatrix, were evaluated against P. costarricensis. In an in vitro assay, aqueous extracts of rusted leaves and berry husks plus the commercial extracts based on citric biomass named Ecolife® and Agromil® were tested at various dilutions on the mycelial growth inhibition of P. costarricensis. In vivo, coffee seedlings maintained in glasshouse, were sprayed with these extracts seven days before inoculation of P. costarricensis. Only extracts from citric biomass had inhibitory...

‘Navelina’ oranges submitted to pre-harvest resistance inducers Agronomy
Kirinus, Marines Batalha Moreno; Barreto, Caroline Farias; Silva, Pricila Santos da; Oliveira, Roberto Pedroso de; Malgarim, Marcelo Barbosa; Fachinello, José Carlos.
The objective of this study was to evaluate the physical-chemical characteristics, rot index and bioactive compounds of ‘Navelina’ oranges under postharvest refrigerated storage conditions after pre-harvest resistance induction in crops from 2015 and 2016. The field experimental design was completely randomized blocks. The treatment factors were composed of the following resistance inducers: noresistance inducer (control), selenium (Se), silicon (Si), acibenzolar-s-methyl (ASM), methyl jasmonate (MeJa), thiamethoxam (TMT) and imidacloprid (IMI). In the laboratory, the experimental design was the same as that in the field, but it used a two-factor scheme instead of a unifactorial scheme. In the two-factor scheme, factor A was composed of the abovementioned...

Isoflavonoid composition and biological activity of extracts from soybean seedlings treated by different elicitors Anais da ABC (AABC)
DURANGO,DIEGO; MURILLO,JENNIFER; ECHEVERRI,FERNANDO; ESCOBAR,GUSTAVO; QUIÑONES,WINSTON.
Abstract Time-course and dose-response experiments were carried out to establish the ability for synthesizing isoflavonoids of soybean seedlings (cv. Soyica P34) treated with salicylic (SA) and isonicotinic acids (INA). Then, 25 structurally-related compounds were evaluated for their isoflavonoid-eliciting activity. Next, the antimicrobial and antioxidant activities of EtOAc-soluble fraction from soybean seedlings treated with some synthetic elicitors were determined. Results showed that the concentration of isoflavonoids in soybean seedlings was significantly increased by the application of SA and INA. The major isoflavonoids detected were the malonyl-glycosidic isoflavones, followed by genistin and daidzin. The isoflavone aglycones (genistein, daidzein,...

Pigment production and growth of Alternanthera plants cultured in vitro in the presence of tyrosine BABT
Kleinowski,Alítcia Moraes; Brandão,Isabel Rodrigues; Einhardt,Andersom Milech; Ribeiro,Márcia Vaz; Peters,José Antonio; Braga,Eugenia Jacira Bolacel.
The aim of the present study was to investigate the influence of tyrosine on the in vitro growth and the production of the betacyanin pigment in Alternanthera philoxeroides and A. tenella. Nodal segments were inoculated in MS medium containing different concentrations of tyrosine (0, 25, 50 and 75 μM), and the number of sprouts and buds, height, root length, fresh matter of shoots and roots and betacyanin content were evaluated. In A. philoxeroides , the highest production of betacyanin (51.30 mg 100 g-1 FM) was in the stems with the addition of approximately 45 μM tyrosine, while the increase in the leaves was proportional to the tyrosine concentration, and the best average was obtained with a tyrosine concentration of 75 μM (15.32 mg 100 g-1 FM). Higher...
