O condicionamento fisiológico em sementes tem se mostrado benéfico, entretanto há necessidade de estudos para cada espécie de interesse. Objetivou-se com este trabalho avaliar o efeito do condicionamento osmótico (CO) com diferentes soluções na qualidade fisiológica e composição química das sementes de Brachiaria brizantha cv. MG-5. O trabalho foi conduzido no Laboratório de Análises de Sementes da FEIS/UNESP, em 2009. Aluminum (Al3+) toxicity is one of the major factors that limit plant growth and crop yield in acid soils. The phytotoxic effects of aluminum on seed germination and initial growth of physic nut (Jatropha curcas L.) seedlings were investigated in the present study. Physic nut seeds were subjected to five levels of aluminum [0 (control), 20, 40, 60 and 80 mg L–1], using the solution-paper method, with eight replications. The aim of this study was to evaluate the physiological and biochemical changes related to desiccation tolerance loss in millet seeds. The studied points of the germination process were determined according to the seed imbibition curve of the millet hybrid ADRF6010: control (0h), 3h of imbibition, 1 and 3 mm radicle. The seeds were dried on silica gel for 72h at 20°C, followed by pre-humidification at 25°C for 24h. Seed physiological quality was evaluated by electrical conductivity and a germination test, and seed vigor was evaluated with a first germination count and a germination speed index.
